What Are You Listening To? - trbc08 - 20-09-2009 "Zombie" by Fela Kuti Very cool song. What Are You Listening To? - trbc08 - 26-09-2009 I've been listening to Bohren & der Club of Gore's "Sunset Mission" album a lot while walking lately at night. I love this album. It reminds me a lot of Blue Velvet. Very cool stuff. What Are You Listening To? - trbc08 - 27-09-2009 "I Put a Spell On You" - Screamin' Jay Hawkins Simultaneously creepy and amazing. Awesome. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 03-10-2009 from my library Pearl Bailey - 16 Most Requested Songs - 1991 - ** ![]() Records, film, broadway, tv, Pearl could do it all. Although her recording career was not that spectacular as far as sales, she was a draw on the night club circuit. Her standing in the jazz community was huge. Started recording professionaly in the 40's and had her only top 10 hit in 1952, with Takes Two To Tango, which is not on this compilation. This is still a very good perspective, but only covers the Columbia years, 1945-1950. Teaming up with Moms Mabley and Hot Lips Page are some classics. What Are You Listening To? - Beach - 05-10-2009 I'm currently listening to Renée Live: December 17/18, 1982 This big (around 6ft) Aussie Soul/Blues singer headed for the States in the eighties and tried to make a name for herself. Unfortunately, her first album was getting great airplay on the 'Black' FM Stations until they caught sight of the cover and discovered she wasn't 'Black' as assumed but a big, white, Jewish Aussie chick and the airplay immediately ceased. She did stay and became a fixture on the 'Session Scene' as a backing vocalist. She can be heard on Sting's version of Little Wing. What Are You Listening To? - Beach - 07-10-2009 Currently listening to this little gem from my mate, Seth Rochford and his band from New York State Bernie Clarke & the Rhythm Sharks Love it Seth old mate. Great versions of some great songs, some great originals and, as I said earlier, 'a real gem'! |
