my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-08-2013 BRONSKI BEAT "hit that perfect beat" b/w "i gave you everything" 1985 homosexual 'beat-boys' from the UK, had a huge hit called "smalltown boy" a couple of years prior to this about the problems growing up in a small town when you are 'gay'...very good song IMO, anyway, after a couple of hits vocalist Jimmy Sommerville left to pursue a solo career, but the rest of the guys continued to play, this was their biggest hit out here reaching #3 on the chart, was obviously ok bcak then because i bought it...but sorry, "disco" just aint my thing! "shake it up" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq-yoorI7lo video "cruiser" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCSdI7PgqsU live my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-08-2013 BOB DYLAN "gotta serve somebody" b/w "trouble in mind" 1979 this was the first Dylan thing i bought...at age 11 or 12(depending when released as opposed to my birthday)... loved the "a" side immediately when i frist heard it played on the radio(it still gets reasonably good airplay today)... single only reached #96 on the charts here, but chart placings dont mean a thing in the scheme of things... "gotta love somebody" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zavbgO1s8io audio "trouble in mind" ** no link available for this track! my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-08-2013 MANFRED MANN'S EARTHBAND "blinded by the light" b/w "starbird #2" 1976 got this one in the early 1980s, one of those retrospective purchases... single written by The Boss, but recroded and released by these guys, reached #11 here back n '76... still like this one, but ive heard Springsteen's since and his is the best version IMO, "b" side here is pretty much an instrumental...not keen on it! "blinded by the light" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcWVL4B-4pI live "starbird #2" * no link available here neither my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-08-2013 ELTON JOHN "nikita" b/w "the man who never died" 1985 not much to say other than it is Elton John..! single reached #3 on the charts here back in the day... "b" side is a simple yet lovely instrumental...for some reason its not very often i dont like an Elton instrumental!, it was apparently Elton's personal tribute to john Lennon("empty garden" was a elton/taupin tribute), either way its a lovely piece of music! "nikita" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z53RADsjE4I video "the man who never died" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6q0kMx9xMA audio my "singles" collection - Jerome - 02-08-2013 BTW 'Nikita' is a man's name. 'Empty Garden' was a masterpiece. Brilliant track. my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-08-2013 THE CLASH "this is england" b/w "do it now" 1985 first single from their last album...the crap embarrassing "cut the crap" album.. the "a" side is one of only probably three or maybe foru tracks i like on that album, the "b" side, however,IMO, is better than anything on that album!, it is classic Clash and probably ranks in my top 10 Clash tracks ever... the single reached #62 on the charts here... listen to both and make up your own minds! 'Empty Garden' was a masterpiece. Brilliant track. 1. YES i was aware of that and 2. YES it is a masterpiece, one of my favourite's by Elton....Queen also recorded a Lennon tribute, cant recall the title, think it was on their "hot space" album, was also the "b" side to their "thank god its christmas" single(which i also own) i think Paul McCartney's tribute to Lennon on his superb 1982 album Tug Of War is the best tribute of all though...
