I also voted Conservative for the same reason. I think we have done enough to see him go.

UK General Election - CMB1888 - 07-05-2010

I voted SDLP - which was as close to an anti-Conservative vote as I could get being out in the provinces.

I had been saying all week the Lib Dem vote wouldn't materialise - people always toy with the idea but when it comes to it, it doesn't happen. Nick Clegg should be proud that he ensured their vote didn't collapse in such an unusually close election.

I'd be happy enough with any sort of fairly stable government so if it's Conservatives/Lib Dems or whatever, so be it.

Keeping in mind I don't have an opinion, pro or con, could you Euro guys/gals fill me in on why you dislike Gordon Brown. Other than the fact he's an incumbent politician. Over here, sometimes that's all it takes to be disliked.

This is a hard one to pin down there are so many things that contribute, some are not BGs fault but, arise from the fact that the UK is not seen as a member of Europe but, tries to make us believe that the EU needs the UK and really its the other way round That goes back such long way ..........................The main thing that the EU has achieved is to bring stability to a place where disagreement has lead to two major wars....................The Brits thought that at the end of the 50s they should lead the way in Europe
but unless they took the lead they would have no part in it and it would fail..............However what they did not understand was that Europe wanted to rebuild something new not something from the past and mostly it has worked..............

GB is from the UK party that should support greater English integration into the EU but he has done little to show it

Europe has shown a swing towards the right in recent years and he is seen as being from the past way of thinking

Criticism of the EU by the UK has been that it is an undemocratic body and yet GB is an unelected leader.

In many ( not all !) countries in he UK he is seen as lacking morals ..........and has a bully boy reputation.

The stance of the EU on Afghanistan is not the same as his view.

It s so complex an issue and this is only my view from the mainland look backwards to a country I once lived in..Cool

Forgot about that unelected thing, which is probably a big contributing factor.

Gordon's been a bit of a hostage to fortune in my view. He ran the Treasury for 10 years, and is generally acknowledged to have done a good job. When he inherited the PM-ship from TB, the rot had already set in, and the electorate already seemed to have had enough of the Labour Party.

GB's not particularly telegenic, so has failed to endear himself to the population, plus the media have led an anti-Gordon campaign that seems to have been pretty successful.

He's not without some blame, of course - he introduced a change in Corporation Tax which resulted ultimately in the collapse of Final Salary Pensions in the UK - but has been branded by the UK media as the cause of the current Global Financial Crisis. Unbelievably, much of the population seems to have fallen for it...

As for Europe, once again the press have painted the EU as the root of all evil, and there's no real hunger for further European integration amongst our population. This is a mistake in my view. Neither of the main political parties now expend much energy on the issue...

Hooray! He's gone - supersillious hypocrite.
Wonder what Mr DC will bring?

They're never gone.
Even Bill Clinton surfaces now and then.

UK General Election - gryphon - 12-05-2010

Well it looks like they have decided what to do and that all that is left now is to appoint a cabinet and see how it shapes up in government

If I;m right though , this is not a huge majority and by elections etc could change things in time so lets see how long they can last and if the British people give them more MPs in time or erode that slender majority

:nod::happy:Cool
