i was recommended this one by Corey back in the day...
i hear bits of other band's on this one from Black Keys,Oasis,Arcade Fire,Verve,even some Rolling Stones at times...
best track here is a tough choice between the single and title track "beat the devil's tattoo" and "conscience killer"...
all up there are thirteen tracks on this one, four i dont like, six i do, and three i love which gives an overall score of 1.9...

Slightly better than the last one (Insomniac), but four more tracks to make it so. Still three tracks I
don't like, but three I love to even it out. Leadoff of Nice Guys Finish Last is one of my favorite
Green Day songs. The bands fifth album and their fifth best selling. Charted the highest in Australia
at #3, making #10 in the states. Four singles and none hit the overall chart here. Some alternative
action but that's it. Good Riddance was the best selling of those. The group considered their previous
Insomniac album a failure as compared to the previous breakout Dookie, and canceled the last leg of
their European tour to begin work on this album. It didn't fare any better, so maybe they decided to
settle for stardom instead of super stardom, until American Idiot anyway. Then it probably went to
their heads again.

The last one I have of theirs. Not because I burnt out, just time to move on. Wouldn't mind having any of the follow ups. This one actually
comes out with the highest score of the three I have. Nothing I don't like, but only one love track in the polka flavored Misery. This is the
bands sixth album and said to be more pop leaning. Don't hear that but maybe a little less punk feel, which probably led the hard core punk
audience to cry sell out. Even though it peaked at #4 on the chart, it was the bands first major label release to not go platinum, leading
critics to predict their decline. Bad prediction as the follow up of American Idiot became the bands best selling to date. Three singles were
released from this one, none of which hit the big chart here.

I've just started listening to this pretty unique sounding band called Antun Opic.

Thought I had previously posted this but damn if I can find it. Would have thought it would score a little higher on the second go round, but
it's pretty low this time. Picked it up from someones end of year list for 2009. Critics loved it, I fell for it, end of story. Brooklyn band
formed in 2002, this is their third album. Too alternative for me I guess. Some jazz influences for sure. I might even call them todays
progressive-rock. I can't progress anymore, I'm too old, too much friction when progressing. The group gained attention when opening for
Radiohead in 2008. Followed the tour up with this highly acclaimed album whose title is inspired by an uninhabited island on Cape Cod that the
band had visited. An old Indian name.......woops, sorry, native american name. They had a follow up album in 2011 which I had no interest in,
based on this one. They must have received some name recognition afrom the Radiohead gig, as this album entered the chart at #8. Here's an
interesting fact, the album was also included in the 2011 edition of the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Now I know I can go in
peace, knowing I have subjected myself to this.
