Had to have bought this for Clint Eastwood and nothing else comes close. Still didn't know much about
the band until now. Wiki says the band has 4 animated members. Seriously people, animated members in a
band, whatever. Listed in the Guinness Book as the Most Successful Virtual Band. Various live people
contribute with Damon Alburn being the only permanent member. A lot of genres thrown in the mix here
which keeps it interesting. Each track I'm thinking it might click, but it rarely does. Just me of
course as the album charted high everywhere, with home base UK sending it to #3. I do love Clint
Eastwood though which was the highest charting of the 4 singles at #4 in the UK, but only hitting #57
here.

Phil Oakey and group's third studio set...
lots of catchy snyth laden UK New Wave tracks here...but none better than the non-single "the things that dreams are made of", i still cannot understand why this was not released as a single, its simply brilliant IMO!
group are still performing and releasing music, their last album called "credo" was released in 2011...
i was actually surprised this one didnt get a love rating from me and i rate it, great, great album that actually sounds as good on cd as it does on vinyl, which is surprising because most albums that are synth-laden from that period actually sound flat and hollow on cd.

Back to the virtual band. Fares no better than the first for me. In fact I prefer the first because at
least I got a love track out of it. Four like tracks from this one with eleven that do nothing. I
purchased these first two albums together after hearing Clint Eastwood. Thought I would get in on the
ground floor for a change. Never followed up after these two consecutive bombs. I did give the follow
up, Plastic Beach, an online listen but it sucked too. Seems like I remember someone here liking it.
Just too far out there for this old brain. The rest of the world loves them though, as this one went to
the top in the U.K., #6 here, #2 Australia and #5 Canada, so I'm the lone naysayer. They're all yours
people.

i have Plastic Beach on vinyl,never played it as it was a collectors release(different colours on the sky shot than the cd version and ltd edition release...)
maybe it was Tiggi who liked it...he was into some strange music at times?!?!
i remember posting their best of set as a new release mate...think there was only three or four tracks on it that i liked....pretty bad result for a best of by any artist IMO!

CROWDED HOUSE "intriguer" 2010.
this one is a bit better than than 2007's Time On Earth, only because the tracks were written with The House in mind, rather than a Finn solo set.
lyrically it is still quite dark and forbodding in places but musically it sounds like crowded House, only without the sparkle of the earlier recordings.
not sure of the title though as there is not much intriguering going on, sounds like a run of the mill collection of songs, there are two really good songs on this collection though, Amsterdam & Falling Dove(a lovely folky tune).
not the best Crowded House album but its pretty good IMO
