Surprised this one came out as good as it did. I had lost interest a few albums ago. Still, a couple of love tracks
for me here in One Hit and Winning Ugly. They had stopped debuting at #1 with this one peaking at #4. Twenty albums
deep and the candle was burning fast. Jagger and Richards were on one of their feuds, as Mick had released his
first solo album which annoyed Keith. Mick was absent from some of the sessions and added vocals later. Charlie
Watts was at the peak of a heroin addiction and replacement drummers were on some tracks. Jagger opted to work on
his next solo effort rather than tour for the albums release. Biggest hit here was the #5 Harlem Shuffle which I
thought was just ok. Nice guest spots from Bobby Womack, Jimmy Page and Tom Waits. Richards takes lead vocals on
Sleep Tonight and Too Rude, both tracks get the low score along with Had It With You. The early Stones are among my
favorites but at some point they became a totally different band for me.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Too Rude

Best Track - Winning Ugly

I wanna be on top
Forever on the up
And damn the competition
I never play it fair
I never turn a hair
Just like the politicians
I wrap my conscience up
I wanna win that cup
And get my money baby
But back in the dressing room
The other side is weeping
And we're winning, winning ugly
And we're winning, winning ugly

And we're heading for the heartbreak
Heading for the blues
We're heading for the heartbreak
Heading for the blues
And we're winning, winning ugly
And we're winning, winning ugly

I will not act unkind
I will not be so blind
I will not walk so proud
Come down from off my cloud
How can I live my life this way?
Beauty is staring me in the face
Ain't that the truth
Ain't that the truth
Hold on, come on girl
Hold on

Look out for number one
My country right or wrong
Let the devil take the hindmost
I was brought up to cheat
So long as the referee wasn't looking
I'm never wrong at all
I always fight the call
I don't admit it
But back in the dressing room
The other side is screaming
And we're winning, winning ugly, yeah
And we're winning, winning ugly

And we're heading for the heartbreak
Heading for the blues
We're heading for the heartbreak
Heading for the blues
And we're winning, winning ugly

I will not act unkind
I will not be so blind
I will not walk so proud
Come down from off my cloud
How can I live my life this way
Beauty is staring me in the face
Ain't that the truth
Ain't that the truth?
Come on baby, come on girl
A little bit louder
Walk a little bit prouder

And we're winning, winning ugly, that's alright
And we're winning, winning ugly, come on girl
And we're winning, winning ugly
And we're winning, winning ugly, winning ugly

LYNYRD SKYNYRD "skynyrds innyrds-their greatest hits" cd,1989.

as the title says..a greatest hits album...not really sure that they actually had many hits, but a decent compillation nevertheless, have their album...the one with the flames engulfing several members of the band, and by coincidence it was the ones engulfed who died in a plane crash...!...and i rated that one higher than this one when i did it some time ago.
a very, very good album of pure southern rock which leads off with their universal anthem "sweet home alabama", which is IMO one of the greatest rock songs of all time(even though the song is a dig at Neil Young).pretty hard to go past that one as best track here...its a standard!!!
i am actually surprised these guys never really made it huge(guess the plane crash stopped them in their tracks to a degree), but they are still touring today....
probably would have picked "call me the breeze" the best track had it not been for the Alabama track

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Just got David Gilmour - Live from Gdansk a couple of days ago and i haven't been able to put it down, it's simply amazing

MH, you... liked "Dirty Work"? You don't sacrifice children, do you?

Anyways, onto an album I downloaded on an utter whim; Break Up Bop by the Domestic Bumblebees

One of those Myspace bands, where you have to wade through the crap to find the gems inside. Believe or not I've discovered loads of awesome music through Myspace; Natural Snow Buildings, Lil B, Peter Stampfel's "Dook of the Beatnicks", Fishtank Ensemble, and now this. It's sort of a throwback-style rockabillyalbum, very much in the vein of it's traditional sound. This aesthetic (if I'm spelling that wrong, feel free to tell me, I won't feel bad) has been sounding a lotbetter to me lately, maybe becasue thr dullness of Spring break is just getting so hard to take that I need something raucous to help my seemingly incureable boredom

I agree..I have the album also...but I miss Roger Waters !

I am a huge Waters, Gilmour and Floyd Fan but Live in Gdansk did nothing for me. Rick Wright's 'Broken China' is my favourite solo Floyd flight.
