DIRE STRAITS "so far away" b/w "walk of life" 1985
first single off their mega million selling Brother In Arms album...
"walk of life" was later issued as a single in its own right here...
the remaining four singles from the album come up tomorrow as they are in a boxset that i purchased to house the singles..
love the Straits,love the album and love this single!
was a bit surprised to find it only reached #22 on the charts here...

ELVIS PRESLEY "suspicious minds-ep" 1977
a re-release released after the The King died....yep,RCA cashing in on the tragic loss!
four tracks on here, the title track, his 1969 hit 'clean up your own backyard',and two Presley covers,the 1972 hit 'you dont have to say you love me' and 'the first time ever i saw your face'....only one on here i dont like(which is rare for me to say!) and that is 'the first time ever...',i just dont like that song whoever sings it!
single failed to chart here,but with all the reissues around this time,not everybody could get everything by Presley so i dont think any of them charted here!

"b" side is a song from their live "alchemy" album...love that song

third single from their album of the same name...love this track
"b" side is Knopfler's solo instrumental track from the movie "local hero"...boring movie,brilliant piece of music!probably my favourite instrumental of all time!
single only got to #57 here,the excellent video should have made it to the top10 alone!

average rock ballad-cum-prog piece of crap!, not sure why i bought this one,but i dont like it or its "b" side...
was surprised to find this didnt chart here because these guys were huge here...for about five minutes on a saturday around luchtime!..LOL

fourth single from the album...the "a" side was originally released as the "b" side to "so far away"...
anyway, single managed to chart again peaking at #11 here...love the video for this one!
"b" side is a live version of a song that featured on their "twisting by the pool-ep"...love this one also!

FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD "rage hard" b/w "..of your little mind" 1986
first single off their second album "liverpool"...bought this one the day it was released on the strength of their brilliant material off their debut album...
i was dissapointed,thus, i never bought the album neither...
both sides of this single are pieces of crap,shame really, because i thought these guys were actually talented...
single did chart here but only reached #45,they never charted here after this one!

DIRE STRAITS "your latest trick" b/w "irish boy" and "the road" 1986
fifth and final single from Brothers In Arms album..
the "a" side is actually my favourite track off that album, love the huge sax solo at the beginning,sadly though, the sax is missing from the singles version, another radio edit version..."b" side tracks are Knopfler instrumentals from another mover movie he scored the music, this time the movie is "cal", i have seen the movie but i cant recall it so i obviously didnt think much to it, again,Knopfler is a great writer,and i like these tracks also!

DURAN DURAN "planet earth" b/w "late bar" 1981
the Duran's debut hit here...
some nice so-called 'new romantic' stuff happening, i like it, it was different and original back then, but as usual, their "b" side is a piece of crap!
single got to #8 here, they rarely missed the top10 with a single over the next three or four years here!
