Hard pressed to pick the best S&G album. Only had five, but not one among them I do not love. Not many artists I
can say that for. Taking out the theme/intro, only the spoken word Voices Of Old People, which is just depressing,
doesn't rate as a like. Not that it's not good, it's just not a song. Love America and everything on side 2. I'll
take At The Zoo as my favorite, because I love animals. That second side consists of outtakes of songs intended for
The Graduate, along with the #1 hit Mrs. Robinson. Three other singles of A Hazy Shade Of Winter, At The Zoo, and
Fakin' It helped put the album at #1 both here and in the U.K. The only fault I can find here is the length at
around 29 minutes. I could have handled at least an hour of this beauty.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Voices Of Old People

Best Track - At The Zoo

Someone told me
It's all happening at the zoo.
I do believe it,
I do believe it's true.

Mmmmm. Mmmmm. Whoooa. Mmmmm.

It's a light and tumble journey
From the East Side to the park;
Just a fine and fancy ramble
To the zoo.

But you can take the crosstown bus
If it's raining or it's cold,
And the animals will love it
If you do.
If you do.

Something tells me
It's all happening at the zoo.
I do believe it,
I do believe it's true.

Mmmmm. Mmmmm. Whoooa. Mmmmm.

The monkeys stand for honesty,
Giraffes are insincere,
And the elephants are kindly but
They're dumb.
Orangutans are skeptical
Of changes in their cages,
And the zookeeper is very fond of rum.

Zebras are reactionaries,
Antelopes are missionaries,
Pigeons plot in secrecy,
And hamsters turn on frequently.
What a gas! You gotta come and see
At the zoo.

What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 11-03-2012

A trilogy of albums by the pre Nicks/Buckingham Fleetwood Mac .....featuring the unique vocal stylings of Christine McVie. I was a big Fleetwood Mac fan long before the 1975 s/t and Rumours albums. The albums listed below are chalk full of very good English folk rock as well as well crafted rock songs. Christine McVie is the quintessential English brogue singer,,the English Rose. I have always enjoyed her singing!

No Peter Green or Jeremy Spencer, but Danny Kirwan, Bob Welch, Mick and Christine and husband John held the group together. These three albums laid the foundation of the Fleetwood Mac sound that started in '75 with the departure of a blusier sound that was their trademark with Green and Spencer.

I had Future Games many moons ago. Can't say I really liked it at all. Was a very bland album if memory serves me correctly.

Yes J, so unique and distinctive ! She released one album on her own , Christine Perfect(maiden name) s/t before she married John McVie.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN "the promise" cd,2010.

its pure coincidence that this one comes out in my random play list right now just as The Boss releases another studio album, but nevertheless, a welcome play!
i got this one just after it was released after Jerome posted something about how good it was and mentioned the quality of the songs left off the Darkness On The Edge Of Town album, from whose sessions these tracks came from.
several made it onto the final album in 1978,a couple in different sounds, namely "racing in the street" which is more uptempo here, others have never been released in their studio versions until now, however "fire" which was a huge hit for the Pointer Sisters and "because the night" have been previously released on Boss 'live' albums.
and as Jerome said then, and i say now....how the hell did these tracks not get released back then, its a testament to a man/band at the top of their game that so many gems of tracks can stay hidden in the vaults for over 30 years!.
the other good thing about this one is that when The Boss decided to finally release them he enlisted then producer Bob Clearmountain to polish them up as per the origainl album's sound, thus what we have is a good companion album for Darkness On The Edge Of Town....

You just don't hear that many debuts like this one. Blew everyone away. A little personal story. Was doing my short
lived stint at managing a record store at the time this came out. When Chuck E hit the airwaves we could not keep
it in stock. Each week I would double the previous weeks order, only to sell it out within a day or so. When supply
finally caught up with demand, the finicky buyers had moved on to the next big thing. Could have sold three or four
times what we did if we could only look ahead. Don't think Rickie ever equaled this classic. I gave her several
chances. Chuck E was a #4 hit here, with the album hitting #3. Her L.A. street characters came to life in her self
penned songs that were delivered with some real swagger. That was assisted by her romantic involvement with Mr.
Cool himself, Tom Waits. Surprised they never did anything together, or did they? That would have been some awesome
material for me. Thought clips would be there for all these, but only 5.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Weasel And The White Boys Cool

Best Track - Danny's All-Star Joint

Downstairs at danny's all-star joint
They got a juke box that goes doyt-doyt
The vice is nice, they stay in the back all day
But when the nighttime comes, hey-hey
There's this cat down there that makes a bad kinda soup
I come around struttin' my luck in my shoop coupe
Cecil gives me coffee
And he won't never take my coin
I say, " I got thirty dollars in my pocket!
Whatchoo doin' ? "

I holler, " Come on, Cecil, take a dollar!
Come on, Cecil, take a ten!
I've finally geared up into a whole buncha big ones
And you're actin' like I'm down-shiftin' "

He knows all the under-riders on the boulevard
They got to barefoot cruise when it's forty-weight hard
They look particularly dead-beat
Permanently pale
Cecil picks up his butcher knife
Waves it at the jail
The kid say, " I ain't got no dough, Joe, I just want some o.j "
I said, " Don't look at me " ( Cuz he was lookin' my way )
Cecil wink upon him some juice and some green
And the kid walks over and puts the quarter in the pinball machine
And he says, " Come on, Cec, gimme a dollar
Come on Cecil gimme five
I'm in a half-way house on a one-way street
And I'm a quarter past left alive "
He can talk about your people in a wonderful way
He can talk about your people 'til your hair turns grey
