What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 06-03-2012 Jerome Wrote:Another great one by them - http://youtu.be/rdQIQIAYOj8that's not them Them would be this...... Them - Here Comes The Night [Very Good(+) quality] (Live/NME, 1965) - YouTube that would be them What Are You Listening To? - Mrrusty1 - 07-03-2012 I love the Kinks ,Ray Davies was and still is a brilliant song writer. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-03-2012 whats going on Jerome...you've left yourself wide open on three occasions this week!!!! LOL!!! What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 07-03-2012 from my library (vinyl) ![]() I know what you're saying. Why isn't this in country? Easy answer, because most of it's not. Maybe 2 songs, the last two. Jerry was still trying to figure out what kind of music he wanted to play. I was still trying to figure out what kind of music I wanted him to play. I settled on the country ballads, but the Killer could rock out as well. He could do some major damage on those ivorys. The ebonys took a beating too. After all, they do live in perfect harmony. On this album Jerry trys to see if he has any soul in him. I'd say just a little. Recorded in Memphis with a nice supporting cast of the Memphis Horns, Booker T and his gang, Carl Perkins, Tony Joe White and Mark Lindsay of all people. Other than a few bad song choices, the album holds up rather well. Worst is Sam and Daves Hold On I'm Comin' which Jerry murders, along with Fats's Blueberry Hill. Surprised he covers When A Man Loves A Woman pretty good. The leadoff track and single of Meat Man is another that sucks for me. Just stupid lyrics. But of course my favs are the two country tunes to close it out, with Big Blue Diamond the best. The album reached #6 on the country charts. Doesn't stand up with his best, but it works. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Hold On I'm Coming Best Track - Big Blue Diamond Blue diamonds, big blue diamonds on her finger Instead of a little band of gold Big diamonds, big blue diamonds tell the story Of the love that no one man could hold Oh, she wanted more than I had money to buy So she left me sad and lonely I am told Big diamonds, big blue diamonds Now she'll trade them For a love behind a little band of gold Blue diamonds, big blue diamonds how they sparkle But what can they do to warm your heart and soul When you're lonesome in the moonlight and you want loving Big blue diamonds don't they seem so reckless and bold I gladly do my part oh, to mend a broken heart But a love that's warmed over soon grows cold Big diamonds, big blue diamonds I don't want them, no I just want a love behind a little band of gold 1) Meat Man * live - Jerry Lee Lewis -Meatman - YouTube 2) When A Man Loves A Woman ** 3) Hold On I'm Coming * live - JERRY LEE LEWIS - HOLD ON , I'M COMING - YouTube 4) Just A Little Bit ** audio - Jerry Lee Lewis - Just A Little Bit (from 'Southern Roots', 1973) - YouTube 5) Born To Be A Loser ** audio - Jerry Lee Lewis - Born To Be a Loser - YouTube 6) The Haunted House ** audio - Jerry Lee Lewis - Haunted House - YouTube 7) Blueberry Hill * audio - Jerry Lee Lewis - Blueberry Hill - YouTube 8) The Revolutionary Man ** audio - Jerry Lee Lewis - Revolutionary Man - YouTube 9) Big Blue Diamond *** audio - Jerry Lee Lewis - Big Blue Diamond - YouTube 10) That Old Bourbon Street Church *** 3's - 2 2's - 5 1's - 3 Grade - 1.9 so many albums, so little time What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-03-2012 ah!...we both listened to ex-Sun men today MH! crap..he did massacre Blueberry Hill didnt he!, also Jumpin' Gene Simmons "haunted House", but love that best track of yours, in a word brilliant! What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 07-03-2012 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:whats going on Jerome...you've left yourself wide open on three occasions this week!!!! LOL!!! Dunno - losing it probably! What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 07-03-2012 Pink Floyd - Meddle - the true birth of that distinctive Floyd sound. What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 07-03-2012 Reviewing Sonic Youth...listening to A Thousand Leaves album...never a dull moment with these guys and gal !!!!...experimental, noise, rock, folk, avant garde !!!! What Are You Listening To? - Mrrusty1 - 07-03-2012 yeah meddle was a turning point for floyd What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-03-2012 ![]() PETER CRISS "one for all" cd,2007. yes, it is the Peter Criss from KISS, back with his fifth solo album...loved his 1978 debut solo set, and the second one(out of control),like maybe two or three tracks from his third, about the same from his fouth...so i guess this is a step up from the last couple in that i like half of them. this was supposed to be the album i had waited for for decades...a ballads album, as Peter did, back in the day, excell doing ballads...but alas, not enough good ones on here to like(and cetainly no Beth in sight!), and his voice has all but left him, not many of those rough edged, lispy vocals of days gone by, i guess the alcohol and drugs had finally f##ked him up for good! a bit of a jazzy/bluesy feel to some of these ballads, which is not a bad thing, just probably recorded this sort of album a decade or two too late IMO. a couple of covers on here, one being my favourite track(what a difference a day makes) which gets a love rating, and an ok version of Send In The Clowns...i love that song by whoever sings it, just one of those great classics IMO. the title track is a track about his feelings as the 9/11 events unfolded, all from this Brooklyn local and just misses out on a love score this time round!...the worst track here is a tribute to fellow KISS outcast Ace Frehley(space ace). apart from that though, not really enough to brag about, still it is better than both Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons latest solo efforts, and streets above the last couple of KISS albums. I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: space ace best track: what a difference a day makes tracks: 1. one for all ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylO0eiwTvuQ audio 2. doesnt get better than this ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Vq8slV8wgY audio 3. last night * 4. what a difference a day makes *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsQm7sw9wTs audio 5. hope * 6. faces in the crowd * 7. send in the clowns ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fYPAGeaNXs audio 8. falling all over again ** 9. whisper * 10.heart behind these hands * 11.memories * 12.space ace * 3s=1 2s=5 1s=6 rating: 1.6 |
