Politics - SteveO - 17-10-2014 As far as Hannity is concerned, I used to enjoy his show for the most part. I have a new cable provider now and I didn't bother getting Fox this time. I will get by with CNN...enjoying the roots special this week! The anchors trace back their ancestry...Don Lemon's segment with his mother was very emotional...ancestors were slaves from Ghana! Politics - Lovely Linda - 29-10-2014 My hubby told me he heard Hillary is at the top of the list as the Dem nominee for Pres. Guess I won't be voting again. She failed as Secretary of State so what if anything does that tell y'all? I'm sure it will come back to haunt her. Don't know about the Republicans. BTW, been very busy getting my house ready to be painted. Took out about 150 bushes and trees. Doing my Spring cleaning in the Fall. Also bought a Ford Escape  So, that's why I've been gone most of the time. Need to catch up on the news. Who else is in the running? And details please on how she failed as Secretary of State (if you say, "Benghazi", I promise to vomit.) Can we now talk about serious political issues if only for a minute?--I got a ton to unleash, starting with the failure of the whole political establishment to get infrastucture repairs/replacement/new construction done in a time of unprecedented low borrowing rates. Who else builds roads/ gets sewerage system to 21st Century standards? Meanwhile billions are shoveled to police departments to militarize them and "solve" a non-existent problem--fear and hysteria rule the land to the detriment of anything resembling common sense or working together in a non-partisan way to get real problems really solved. Politics - SteveO - 29-10-2014 Spot on Jazz! I have worked with politicians, government bureaucrats and government workers for over 35 years and believe me The Pareto Principle certainly applies here! 80% of the workers do 20% of the work and therefore 20% of the workers do 80 % of the work! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_principle Furthermore most politicians and government workers would rather go to unproductive meetings, travel abroad for work...usually useless trips, lots of drinking mostly, attend luncheons, and go to constituency barbecues!!!!...lol...It's the truth, I know after being in this culture for over 35 years as I said! Therefore a selected few (approximately 20% of the workforce) are burdened with creating sound policies and dealing with serious social issues, unemployment, poverty, the homeless, lack of affordable housing,,,it can't be done systematically with so few no nonsense politicians! Canada has an abhorrent environmental record, shuns its' poor and impoverished and shells out millions and millions of dollars to the Third World whereby I am told that their leaders grab the money so it never gets to where it was supposed to go! POLITICIANS , for the most part, want to stick their head in the sand, get paid and get big pensions and at all cost avoid serious problems! jazzboCR Wrote:You needed your husband to tell you this? Politics - Lovely Linda - 29-10-2014 Did she not quit as Secretary of State Jazz?? Sounds like she failed to me. She was not qualified!! And, what about the so called sniper story she told awhile back. She was under sniper fire? Give me a break!! I promise it Will come back to haunt her. And, what about the so called sniper story she told awhile back. She was under sniper fire? Give me a break!! I promise it Will come back to haunt her. I do not support Ms. Clinton's ambitions not even a little bit; not for a minute...BUT she deserves to be judged on herself and not what others conjure up about her. She is singled out for special opprobrium because of a special characteristic--she's a woman--as Pres. Obama is for his. When we talk about merit or lack thereof, the convo gets my attention and engagement. 'Til then, it's hateful special interests whistling in the wind and spending huge amounts of Dark Money. Politics - jazzboCR - 30-10-2014 OK the First World War started 100 years and 3 months ago. Anybody feel like celebrating? Me either--the first war of industrial-strength slaughter It's not the war that bothers me (though both sides had equal claim on the US' support); it's the onerous peace terms visited upon the Central Powers--you could argue ( and I do) that these led to the anger and frustration that lead inexorably to WW II--shows what happens when you wish to exact retribution on a beaten enemy, instead of treating them fairly and honorably. That was then; this is now. Politics - Lovely Linda - 06-11-2014 Well the Republicans stomped the Democrats last night. I am glad senator Kay Hagan is gone!! Politics - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-11-2014 Two parties-one agenda...... To line their own pockets, period! Politics - Lovely Linda - 06-11-2014 As long as they have been reported not to have voted for what I don't believe in, I don't care what they line. If they mess up, they will be out the next vote. Maybe someday we will get the right ones in office. |
