On to them e's in my old cd collection. What better way to start the e's than with an artist
known as simply E. It is actually Mark Everett who is now the lead guy with the Eels. This is
his debut album, and despite poor sales got a lot of critics praise. Only two albums as E,
being dropped after the next one. Review says he does everything on this album but the liner
notes have others. Nice lyrics. A couple I don't care for, but one I love called Nowheresville,
with a bit of a country flavor. Of course there is no clip for that one. It was a single along with
Hello Cruel World. Neither met with any success, nor did the album. Glad Mark didn't give up
as I have heard some Eels stuff I like.

Great review Crazy mate! Some would argue that Dookie was their finest album...I love this one also and YES the Awesome as **** live album is a real rush!!!!!...worth seeing live...I wonder how Billy Joe is doing in rehab?

Green Day's finest studio album IMO....
plenty of guitar driven fist pumping sing-a-longs here along with s couple of heartfelt ballads and overblown epic tracks split into five seperate parts each(jesus of suburbia/ homecoming)....angst-ridden lyrics detailing the decline of US society over the previous decade or so...this is about as close to the politically edged GD got to The Clash in terms of lyrics and music, and as close to 'real' punk as they really ever got...
absolutely nothing on here that wasnt worthy of being a hit single....the song "wake me up when september ends" is a sad tale of vocalist Billie Joe's loss of his father several years previously in september...great stuff to pour out in a song IMO, he nails it perfectly with emotion and expression!
just simply a great album by a very good band at the peak of their creative flow IMO
the live links are simply superb here,awesome live band IMO,would love the opportunity to see them live someday!

JAMIE HUTCHINGS "his imaginary choir" cd,2008
heard this one back in the day at Corey's...loved what i heard and bought it and its only today that ive found out Jamie is an Aussie,this is his second album, but was part of another band prior to that(who i cannot remember), and they released six or seven albums, so i guess he is what you'd call a music veteran now...
this one is very modern folky, yet fits into the alternative pigeon-hole quite nicely also...lots of lovely tunes on here,most of which grow over a period of time, so i wouldnt say its instantly likeable overall...
let's hope theres a link or two available here so you can get an idea about what and who Hutchings is all about, aha!,there you go, only one proper clip available and its for my favourite track, i guess the God's must be looking down on me today!

i have their 'bullet in a bible' bluray SteveO, awesome stuff IMO(i think that was released a year or so prior to the one you mentioned),those guys sure know how to rock it loud and live!
to be fair i have never heard "dookie" so maybe my assumpion that "american idiot" is their best album is not quite accurate, but from the studio albums i have heard it is certainly the best one thus-so-far mate....

TRAIN "train" cd, 1998.
very good debut set from a band i like and admire a lot...
only have four of these guys albums..like 'em all...
they are consistantly good(not overly great,just consistant)...love the lyrics they write and the vocals also...
nothing great on here, but nothing bad neither, just a steady,solid collection of songs, so a score of 2.0 or 6.5/10 is what i gove here..

Surprised this came out this low. I thought I liked it. lol. I must have got over them. This
sucks. Nothing I love and five I don't like. Obviously I'm in the minority, allmusic gives this
their perfect score. Even Gary's Got A Boner couldn't save it for me. I was detecting some REM
sounds here before I noticed that Peter Buck helped out on the leadoff track, which was the
first single. This is the bands third album and they were struggling to break away from the
punk sound of the previous two albums. Roughly half of the album kept the punk intact. They
never hit the chart here with this one, but the critics loved it, showing up on all the end of
year lists. The title of the album was a direct reference to the Beatles album and they
considered calling the follow up, Let It Bleed. Some smart person must have talked them out of
it.
