What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-02-2013 i knew "sex crime", was okay i guess, so i listened to your other like track....i like it also, as you said, not your typical Eurythmics style... the movie wasnt too bad also...but obviously not a patch on the George Orwell classic novel "1984" which i have read several times What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-02-2013 ![]() JAKE BUGG "jake bugg" cd,2012. stupid surname IMO, but thats as far as the stupid stuff goes .... was eighteen when he recorded this, nineteen when it was released... Bugg cites Donovan,John Cash,Dylan and Oasis as his influences, and you can hear it on this one... the overall sound is very 1950s/60s mono/two track IMO(very sun records sounding)... supported Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds on their european tour last year,Hussain Bolt took on his 'lightning bolt' track as his own during the 2012Olympics, so Bugg got a fair bit of exposure for free there! heard this one playing at Tem's a few months ago and bought it on the spot, very good sounds happening even though the overall score does not reflect that(due to a few filler tracks towards the end of the disc), four singles released so far in the UK,none set the charts on fire but the album did reach #1 for a couple of weeks a several months ago, and it is still around the #10 mark on those charts... a very good debut set, here's hoping Bugg continues to improve and expand his talent, if he does, he should have a half decent career ahead of himslef in the future I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: slide best track: lightning bolt tracks: 1. lightning bolt *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PXniDcbw9c live on "jools holland" 2. two fingers ** 3. taste it ** 4. seen it all *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMg-FdtDU6U live 5. simple as this *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXnIMKceHkk audio 6. country song ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RID2cUT7DeA live on "jools holland" 7. broken ** 8. trouble town *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuJVrqg-3To live on "jools holland" 9. ballad of mr.jones * 10.slide * 11.someone told me * 12.note to self *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVGzKgZWcGg audio 13.someplace * 14.fire * 3s=5 2s=4 1s=5 rating: 2.0 also found a cover of Cash-man's "folsom prison blues" on youtube which isnt too bad(good to see a new generation of singers embracing the old guys, gives me hope for the future of music in general) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MPL6QTlsF0 live audio What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 08-02-2013 ^^ like your fav What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-02-2013 its one of those albums that grows on you over a period of time. glad you liked it MH What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 08-02-2013 saw the Bugg on TV...it was ok but like you said CH...it'll grow on me! What Are You Listening To? - komlen_s - 10-02-2013 Hi everyone! The Swimming Pigs is an alternative rock band from Belgrade, Serbia. Amazing band, truly. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 10-02-2013 komlen_s Wrote:Hi everyone! The Swimming Pigs is an alternative rock band from Belgrade, Serbia. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 11-02-2013 ![]() GREEN DAY "american idiot" cd,2004. Green Day's finest studio album IMO.... plenty of guitar driven fist pumping sing-a-longs here along with s couple of heartfelt ballads and overblown epic tracks split into five seperate parts each(jesus of suburbia/ homecoming)....angst-ridden lyrics detailing the decline of US society over the previous decade or so...this is about as close to the politically edged GD got to The Clash in terms of lyrics and music, and as close to 'real' punk as they really ever got... absolutely nothing on here that wasnt worthy of being a hit single....the song "wake me up when september ends" is a sad tale of vocalist Billie Joe's loss of his father several years previously in september...great stuff to pour out in a song IMO, he nails it perfectly with emotion and expression! just simply a great album by a very good band at the peak of their creative flow IMO the live links are simply superb here, awesome live band IMO,would love the opportunity to see them live someday! I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: letter bomb best track: wake me up when september ends tracks: 1. american idiot *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4PxvzlBYf0 live 2. jesus of suburbia ** 3. holiday *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5aQFRc4okE live 4. boulevard of broken dreams *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzB6JlEVYcQ live 5. are we the waiting ** 6. st.jimmy ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRu0O1J3Y4s audio 7. give me novacane ** 8. she's a rebel *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOv5fF7maFY audio 9. extraordinary girl ** 10.letter bomb ** 11.wake me up when september ends *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k70NhRPXzpI live 12.homecoming ** 13.whatsername ** 3s=5 2s=8 1s=0 rating: 2.4 |
