Yes, this is scary...but not worthy of panic attacks. The best minds and huge money is working on this, and a couple of remedies are looking good. The real tragedy is in Africa--the public-health-care environment would have to get better to be called "shoddy" and the aid the West has sent lies unopened in airport hangars due to political hang-ups. A "from the frontline" story and then some facts, the latest word, about the deadly virus:

rebelgirl Wrote:I was watching Hannity tonight and they were talking about almost 200 people are infected with the Ebola virus now here in the U.S. Some in Texas and at least one here in North Carolina. Just as I suspected. The virus is here. Scary!!

I don't want to accuse anyone of anyone here, but I'm pretty sure either you misheard/misinterpreted Hannity, he's making up numbers, or he has some sources who are keeping what is possibly the single most important piece of news in America a secret from everyone but Hannity.

There's been 2 confirmed cases of Ebola in the U.S., not including the two original citizens brought back from overseas. One of the new patients is in Texas and the other is in Washington D.C. North Carolina's connection is that the Texas patient has family that lives in North Carolina.

I don't know where the "200 infected" number comes from. Maybe that's the number of people who have come into contact with the two patients, who are being quarantined as precautionary matters? But, if you search for the claim that there are 200 confirmed cases of Ebola in America, you don't find a single result. Every result says there's two cases (or one if the article is from before the D.C. patient was confirmed).

Now, that's not to say this isn't worrisome. It obviously is, and obviously everyone should do everything they can to protect themselves. But, for now, you can lower the defcon level a bit Rebel, and have a little less stress in your life. Its not nearly as serious here in America, yet, as you've been led to believe. Smile

"Amen" to everything LMD said.

Politics - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-10-2014

...only two confirmed cases is how i took the news story also, but like LMD stated, those two people have come in contact with lots of others which is obvious...

i dont think there is any need for panic and hysteria in any way, shape or form...

I do agree with you MH!! Just passing along what I heard. May not be completely accurate what Hannity said but that was the way it went and I don't doubt the report because I just don't know. I don't believe what our government says most of the time and they will say anything to stop a panic. Good to try and stay on top of Ebola and how fast it is really spreading. I wish you and all you guys in Canada luck Steve!! Hope it does not make it up there!! Again as far as Hannity, he tells it like he believes and what he hears from his sources but sometimes I have to leave him cause he gets on my nerves

he's ok for me in small doses
same with some on the left
I don't rely on 1 source for any news story

I am just wondering why these politicians use the word "Misspeak" when we say it's just a downright Lie. They make me sick!!
