INXS & JIMMY BARNES "good times" b/w "laying down the law" 1986
two of australia's heavyweights teamed up for this one which is a cover of an old Easybeats hit...i like it!
"b' side is another duet between the two artists, dont like that one much
single peaked at #2 here which was a dissapointment by both these artists standards on our charts...

ROLLING STONES "emotional rescue" b/w "down in the hole" 1980
one of my favourite Stones songs off my second favourite Stones album(tattoo you is my favourite)...
like the "b" side also,always found these guys "b" sides to be quite good, a sign of an artist who takes pride in what they do!

"A' side is one of those semi-comical tracks like Melanie's "brand new key" song from the same period...
i love this track by these Aussie folkies...and two discs in a row now have instrumentals on the "B' side, i like this one also..
single was thebiggest selling one out here for the year of 1970 so its no surprise it got to #1 on the charts, not sure if it charted in the US but it also got to #1 in the UK...

pretty sure i bought this upon release purely on the strength of their "you spin me round(like a record)" single...
this aint a patch on that one, it, and the "b" side are pieces of crap IMO and the chart buying public obviously thought the same with it only reaching
#41 on the charts here.

KYLIE MINOGUE "hand on your heart" b/w "just wanna love you" 1994
Aussie 'pop princess' Kylie had a string of pop hits both here and in the UK between 1987 and 2005 that could only be matched
by Madonna...she was hot property, but not for me, only bought this one simply because her singles that had the aussie "mushroon records" label
are hot property for UK collectors...

PiL a.k.a PUBLIC IMAGE LIMITED "rise" b/w "rise-instrumental" 1986
John Lydon released a lot of crap under the PiL brand name, this isnt one of them, but its not great,just okay, quite repeatative, but catchy...
lame-arse instrumental version on the "b" side...always felt ripped off when artist do that!

PAUL McCARTNEY & STEVIE WONDER "ebony and ivory" b/w "rainclouds" 1982
used to love this song when it came out, but now, its simplistic sugar coated cringeworthy rubbish!, by far the worst song on his sublime "tug of war" album...
"b" side,is quite good, an acoustic thing that would have fitted well on his "wildlife" album from 1972-ish
single got to #1 just about everywhere but Joan Jett's "i love rock and roll" kept it at bay here,Macca made it to #2

JIMMY & THE BOYS "they wont let me girlfriend talk to me" b/w "brave new world" 1981
these Aussie guys were very artsy/shock value/punk/experimental for the best partof their career...
this "a" side,however, is a lot more radio friendly, written by Tim Finn, has a distinct Finn feel to it, song is about a man who has a breakdown and committed
to an insane hospital, and obviously, they wont let his girlfrieim see her, very dark subject matter from a man who had a breakdown himself around the time he wrote it,his other great depression song was the Split Enz classic "dirty creature"...
"b" side is a piece of crap, too out there for my tastes,like the restof their material was!
single got to #8 here, always thought it deserved the top spot though!
