thanks for that Jerome, i knew someone would take me up on it and give me a better description of her vocals....Suzanne Vega it is, i thought it was a bit weird me saying Kate Bush, but those were my thoughts at the time

Not much out there on this guy and nothing on this album. He was original, I'll give him that.
Here's what I wrote down that I heard, Jonathan Richman, Talking Heads, Tubes, Ian Dury, with
some Famous Flames thrown in for funk. Can't you just hear it? With all that you would think I
would love this. Love the first track, Contort Yourself, but nothing else comes close and one
sucked. One side of the album is titled James White and The Blacks and the other is titled
James White and The Contortions, so I'm assuming this is some sort of compilation, although it
doesn't say that anywhere. I did find a brief bio of the guy on wiki. He is also known as James
Chance but was born James Seigfried. Improv jazz/punk is what they call him. Yea, I should have
thrown that jazz reference in mine too, which is the one highlight of this album. Sax is up
front and in your ear. Discography on the guy shows 21 albums, so he must have some fans out
there somewhere.

LISA MITCHELL "bless this mess" cd,2012.

Lisa's second album(i dont have the first one....yet?!)
a strong recommendation from Tem back in october-ish....
pretty hard to describe her vocal quality but Kate Bush-cum-folk is the nearest thing i could say(maybe someone could enlighten me further on her???)
lots of catchy tunes here, not that that is a bad thing....
Lisa was originally a contestant on "aussie idol" back in 2006...they(the producers) wanted her to not play guitar, not do original material etc etc....so she told them to 'get stuffed' and walked out even though she made it through to the final six....and the rest is history, gotta admire the girl for standing up for her principles IMO!!!!
i urge you guys to listen to a few of these tracks, you wont be dissapointed!!!!
all up a very good album from a girl/woman of only 22years of age, am looking foreward to hearing her debut at some point!

SPECIAL PATROL "the golden meal" cd,2004

i know nothing about these guys and they must be so obscure i cannot find anything on allmusic.com or on wikki about them...
i dont know where they come from but a couple of lines on the linnear notes suggest they are either Australian or that the album was recorded here(its not really clear).
i think i picked this up out of a discount bin for a couple of bucks because i liked the cover and i had a bit of spare change in my pocket at the time that i wanted to get rid of...
this album is 'soft' indie-rock sounding....
the vocalist has a bit of a Noel Gallagher(no not liam) quality to his vocals, even some of the lines he sings could have a Gallagher feel to them...
thats about all i can say about this without any other info, cant even find these guys in the charts from US,UK or here so maybe they dont really exist and this album is a figment of my imagination???

My favorite Sparks album, and I have quite a few. Five love tracks and a favorite is a tough
call. Sparks was an LA group that eventually became brothers Ron and Russell Mael's vehicle for
their own brand of quirky rock. They never hit the big time, but they are still out there.
After touring in the UK and getting nice reviews in the music press the brothers decided to
relocate to London signed with a new label and this was their first release after that. The
move paid off as this album made #4 there and scored two hit singles. Not as well accepted here
at #101 and they never scored that high again in the UK, although remaining more popular in
Europe. Interesting that I just posted a Nirvana song and Kurt Cobain says this is one of his
favorite albums of all time. I really need to get it on cd.
