I have at least 4 or 5 albums
liked them in the beginning, but the sound got old
they had an album just a few years ago that was absolutely horrible

Weekly pull from the new stack. Thought it would come out a little higher and I'm sure it would get there
after more plays. Music reminds me a lot of Mumford & Sons. I just typed that before I see that lead
singer Marcus Mumford provides some backing vocals. This is Laura's second album and I didn't even know
she has had one since. Laura is much bigger in the UK than here, as this album debuted at #4 over there,
Peaked at #7 in Australia, and did not even chart here. Opening track was the best for me with Darkness
Descends the only thing I didn't like. What's up with that chic on the cover? Not Marla, and she certainly
has some anorexic issues.

i think they also recently released a new album...also recently toured here with Simple Minds... live reviews were brilliant for Devo...not so good for Simple Minds though

FUN. "some nights" cd,2012. #3US, #3AU, #4UK, #5CAN.

second album by this NYC trio....
one of the albums of 2012 IMO...great rock sounds happening here...the group is influenced greatly by Queen and ELO, i cant really hear the ELO influences here but Queen is all over this one, the vocalist may not have the ability to stretch his vocals quite as far as Freddie's soprano/falsetto, but its bloody close in places.
if you shut your eyes and listen you can imagine Mercury singing these songs.
track three,"we are young" hit the #1 position on the singles charts in 19 countries apparently, but i can only confirm they did it in US,Canada,UK and Australia. Billboard say "this is the first true rock song to get to #1 in the last five years. the second single "some nights" also hit #1 here in Australia and reached the top ten in Can,US,UK also, with "carry on" also hitting the Canadian charts recently.
a great,great album IMO, and as i stated, one of the best from 2012 without a doubt!

BAND OF HORSES "everything all the time" cd, 2006.

The Band's debut set and most recent aquisition by me...
best way to sum it up is by saying: think alt-rock/pop crossed with "americana-rock, Beach Boy harmonies and the 1970s type melodies of Neil Young(not surprising really as they do say NY was a huge influence on them..thus the word "horse" in their name)
album opens up with some very good Crazy Horse-esque rock, it then ebbs and flows through melodic alt rock/pop for the next six or seven tracks before plateau-ing off for two of the best alt-ballads of the last decade IMO...a good way to end off the album and show that these guys do have talent...even if i'd have bought this album first up then i would still be a fan of these guys...great stuff for a debut.
