What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 02-01-2012 so now i have got to put Cohen on my end of year list for Corey tomorrow....the list just keeps getting longer but the vouchers stay the same?!?!? give me one to buy please?! What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 02-01-2012 the debut Songs Of Leonard Cohen What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2012 Music Head Wrote:the debut ^^ got it now^^ What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2012 ![]() twenty track cd containing all their singles/b-sides up until vocalist Paul Jones left in late 1966... mighty fine album by a mighty fine band IMO... not much wrong on here, didnt sit down and listen to this one,did so whilst doing chores around the house well worth getting by any lover of mid 1960s British music lovers! either love or like all the tracks from another band that seemed to be in the Stones/Beatles shadows but equally as good! from the album: if you gotta go(go now)....written by Bob Dylan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmvUeSz4mwY audio Come Tomorrow...my favourite MM track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBQ_nJGXaB0 live pretty flamingo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOvtqmqBiiM audio sha la la Manfred Mann - Sha La La ( Live 1965 ) - YouTube live theres no living without your loving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxcGx83bB10 audio What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 03-01-2012 ^^ had not heard Come Tomorrow sounds like Gerry & The Pacemakers thanks for that What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 03-01-2012 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote: I've seen Paul Jones live a couple of times, leading The Blues Band. Very good live band. He also does a weekly Blues radio program on BBC R2. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 03-01-2012 yes, i believe he is still going strong...thanks for conformation Tiggi. always loved Paul Jones era better than the Mike D'Abo Manfred Mann of 67 onwards What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-01-2012 ![]() SLADE "feel the noize-the greatest hits" cd,1997. one from my christmas purchases yesterday....sorry had to put it to the front of the pile as i havent heard Slade for a while! anyway, Slade were England's premier rock act from 71-76, scoring some twnety top 20 hits, most of which hit the top 10, including six UK #1 hits. apart from the sing-a-long choruses and Noddy Holder's vocals Slade were also known for the way they spelled their words on their songs, prefering to spell them as they are sounded out than conventional correct grammar/spelling. Slade were also the first act on the British singles charts to score three #1 hits that debuted on the charts at #1...took until 1982 for that feat to be equalled...that time by The Jam, obviously numerous bands have done it since, most noteably Spice Girls who debuted at #1 on no less than six occasions... anyway, come 1977ish, the big hits dried up for Slade with the emergance of disco, then punk, but back in 1982 they made a chart comeback with the anthemic ballad "my oh my" which reached #2 and in early 1983 with the dancable "run runaway" which also hit the UK top 10, the hits appear to have finally dried up once again for Slade but they still tour throughout Europe on a regular basis and their perenial christmas hit from 1973(merry christmas everybody) still enters the UK charts every year in december, so technically, Slade have rarely had a year out of the UK charts since 1971. worst track here for me is their 1971 debut "get down and get with it", originally recorded by Little Richard, best track is a real toss up as they had so many great rock n roll songs, but having to pick one i have to go with one that encompasses their overall sound in "cum on feel the noize" which incidently was a huge hit as a cover version by Quiet Riot back in the late 1980s(?) I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: get down and get with it best track: cum on feel the noize tracks: 1. get down and get with it* Slade - Get down (and get) with it (live) - YouTube live 2. coz i luv you** The Slade - 19.Coz I Luv You - YouTube live 3. look wot you dun** The Slade - 17.Look Wot You Dun - YouTube live 4. take me bak 'ome** The Slade - 23.Take Me Bak 'Ome 2G's and The Pop People - YouTube live 5. mama weer all crazee now*** Slade - Mama weer all crazee now (live) - YouTube live 6. gudbuy t'jane*** Slade - Goodbye to Jane (Gudbuy T'Jane) 1972 - YouTube live 7. cum on feel the noize*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLsw668PVyY live 8. skweeze me,pleeze me*** Slade - Skweeze Me Pleeze Me - Earls Court London 1973 - Slade In England - YouTube live 9. my friend stan*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BBEHBPqfIQ live 10.everyday*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pPL9PPy1MI live 11.bangin' man** Slade - Bangin' Man - YouTube live 12.far far away*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0NpJ7mcfPo live 13.how does it feel*** The Slade - 25.How Does It Feel - YouTube live 14.in for a penny** Slade - In For A Penny - YouTube live 15.we'll bring the house down** Slade - We'll Bring The House Down 1981 - YouTube video 16.lock up your daughters** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkqdWV6TvgQ live 17.my oh my*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIupI2g8hqg live 18.run runaway*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3vH_yf5AzM&feature=fvst live 19.all join hands** Slade - All join hands - YouTube live 20.radio wall of sound** Slade - Radio Wall of Sound live TOTPs - YouTube live 21.merry christmas everybody*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OAUs0rcsA4 live 3s=11 2s=9 1s=1 rating: 2.5 What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-01-2012 ![]() AREOSMITH "pump" cd. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Dani actually picked this one out with Corey yesterday also, heard it in the car from his shop to the shopping centre, then on way back home....so couldnt score the tracks for this one,but... this is the first time i have heard an Aerosmith studio album and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the tunes and melodies contained within... some real great songs on here, some real good ones also....but surprisingly no dud tracks at all! gueesing it might be watching their video's that put me off these guys back in the day as that lead vocalist is one ugly SOB!...probably more ugly to watch than Mick Jagger....certainly has a bigger mouth and bigger lips than Jagger.... either way a mighty fine album of good solid rock n roll IMO What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-01-2012 ![]() METALLICA "metallica" cd I LIKE THIS ALBUM another of Dani's picks at Coreys yesterday...again, listened to whilst doing other things so i am not committing to a score here.... again, i was pleasantly surprised by most of the tracks here being reasonably good IMO. my pick of the tracks would still have to be the major singles from it in "enter sandman" and the other, the classic rock ballad "nothing else matters"... pretty sure this would come out pretty high in the rating system we use here, but i doubt it would score a 4.5/5 (2.7) that allmusic give it! overall, not a bad album, but prefer the Aerosmith one Dani picked out to purchase! |
