PORTISHEAD "dummy" cd,1994.

got this one a while ago on the strength of two things....firstly they did a great remix of Paul Weller's "wildwood" track, and secondly, this one is in the Rolling Stone Top500 albums of all time...they call it a 'groungbreaking breakthru' album!

the Weller remix is as good as it gets with these guys IMO, and WTF is this piece of crap doing in any 'best of' lists apart from Top500 duds of all time lists!
this is wanksy synthesised,pompus,irritating,nauseous piece if self grandeous tripe IMO.
only liking one solitary track on it and thats the first one,the rest all sound the same...dont buy this album,avoid it at all costs!

In the olden days ..lol...there was a very limited information source for new music ....this is the first time I have listened to USA and I can tell you that I love it !!!!...very intelligent sounds of music ...folky, psychedelic, art rock and some avant garde !!!! FIVE STARS !

A gift from a mate. This one might take some plays. A good album, but got a feeling my mate likes it more
than me. Second solo album from Australian Angus Stone who usually records with sister Julia. The duo is
very popular in the homeland, with their last album, Down The Way, debuting at #1 there. Angus seems just
as popular by himself, with this album coming on the chart at #2 there. I see it is nominated for an ARIA
Award in the Best Blues & Roots Album category. We haven't slotted that one in for the Grammys yet.
Singles from this album at this point have been Broken Brights and Bird On The Buffalo. While researching
clips for this I found a live one for the leadoff track that I like much better than the version on this
album. It had Julia on stage also. Didn't post it as it is a lot different than the version on here. I do
love two tracks on here but there were four I didn't care for. I'm sure this album will hit that magic 2.0
score after a few more spins.

FRIENDLY FIRES "pala" cd,2011. #6 UK

second album from these 1980s retro sounding guys from St.Albans,Hertfordshire,UK.
very Level42 and slight Duran Duran images going on here in the music/lyrics...
not much to say pther than good catchy beats and hooks from these guys, shame the singles track1 and track4 didnt really do as well as the album in the charts by only reaching #80 and #92 respectively...
also, my score is exactly the same as that of the allmusic pro's...very unusual to be in sync with them!
