What Are You Listening To? - gater - 22-12-2011 Neil Young's "Tonight's The Night". Never bought it when it first came out, because I didn't understand what he was saying. Now, after deciding I love Nils Lofgren as both a guitarist and piano player, I bought and have listened to it for the first time in decades. Having had a share of friends and family die in my life by now, I finally get what Neil was saying with this album. It really is a masterpiece, right down to the live track Whitten sang on, added, I am sure, as a tribute. Nils is great here to boot. What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 22-12-2011 Did he make any money from his hits Lady Willpower and Young Girl ?...I actually liked GP and the Union Gap...when I first heard Iron Butterfly's In A Gadda Da Vida ...I thought it was the Union Gap...the voice is similar to GP's...imo....lol Music Head Wrote:Gary Puckett for me What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 22-12-2011 What did Bonehead have to say about Oasis's splitup, Great Guy ? ( love Oasis and their live version of Don't Look Back ...at River Plate , Argentina !!!..they're very reminiscent of my favorite The Beatles !!!). Great Guy Wrote:I've met Bonehead once. He quit Oasis in 1999 but now he's got a new band called The Vortex. They aren't very known and they played in a pub in my town so I went to see them and then I had a talk with him. We talked about the Oasis split up for a moment since it was around 2009/2010 when we met. What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 22-12-2011 I'll have to revisit the album now , thanks Gater ! gater Wrote:Neil Young's "Tonight's The Night". What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 22-12-2011 ![]() LITTLE RIVER BAND "the definitive collection" cd,2002. only one more of Dani's "best of" picks from my collection left after this one before i reload the multi disc player with some studio albums... nothing wrong with "best of" sets, just find them boring to post... ok, Little River Band or LRB as they seem to have been known more widely as back in the day. another Aussie rock group from the mid seventies through to the mid eighties...most of their hits came from the Glenn Shorrock glory days prior to his departure from the band in the early 1980s. cant see where they troubled the UK charts at all!...what the hell is wrong with you guys up there in Western Europe, these guys created some of Rocks best tracks during the above mentioned period.. guess i'd say that in the 70s,early 80s that they could be described as an Aussie "Eagles"...no,not sure about that as i dont like the Eagles..help me out with a comparrison check here MH!!!!. anyway these guys have beautiful melodies, vocals and harmonies, their songs are almost instantly catchy...but still intelligent. these guys were probably more popular over the other side of the Pacific Ocean than they were here at home...they scored some seventeen top 30 hits in the US over a six year period including a a late seventies burst of eight top ten US hits in a row from memory, and actually sold an amazing 25 million records in the US alone between 76-81. the original group are no more, and vocalist Glenn shorrock still tours, has become a bit of an actor performing in stage shows, he released an acoustic career spanning album a couple of years ago... well worth taking a listen to some of the links posted to reaquaint or aquaint yourselves with this great rock band. surprisingly though, this album just fails to make the "love" rating..i would have put money on it doing so, but a few of the post-Shorrock songs did let this one down, with only likes and dislikes from the John Farnham vocal years! I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: down on the border best track: cool change selected tracks: cool change http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bKwRW0l-Qk audio lonesome loser Lonesome Loser - YouTube video lady http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqwhcqT1FEg audio reminiscing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk9whS0hrE4 video shut down turn off http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D81VJ6s2CmE video happy anniversary http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SnsbIsUTEs audio home on a monday Little River Band - Home On Monday (1977) - YouTube live help is on its way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq2WJ2r0NkM video curiosity killed the cat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhVEEn3P8I4 audio all track selected got ***, there were eight other **, and two *, giving an overall rating of 2.3 What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 22-12-2011 ![]() ROLLING STONES "rewind: 1971-1984" the last of the Dani picked cd's, not that im dissapointed with her selections, just maybe that she picked all "best of" sets is all! this one pretty much sums up the best singles from the Stones in the 71-84 period. very little to criticise on here...we have eight ***'s,four **'s and a solitary dislike, that one i dislike comes in the form of 1984's "undercover or the night"...this single was the start of the end for the Stones IMO...didnt buy many 7" singles of these guys after this one and certainly no studio albums(my last one of those was 1981's Tattoo You). track listing: 1. Miss You ** 2. Brown Sugar *** 3. Undercover the Night * 4. Start Me Up *** 5. Tumbling Dice *** 6. Hang Fire *** 7. It's Only Rock'n'Roll (But I Like It) *** 8. Emotional Rescue *** 9. Beast of Burden ** 10. Fool to Cry ** 11. Waiting On a Friend *** 12. Angie *** 13. Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)** some absolutely great songs on here but still hard to go past "angie" as my favourite album rating: 2.5 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 22-12-2011 ^^ out of those, Angie would be my fav also What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 22-12-2011 what about Little River Band...surely you must have a couple of their albums from back in the day? What Are You Listening To? - Great Guy - 22-12-2011 SteveO Wrote:What did Bonehead have to say about Oasis's splitup, Great Guy ? ( love Oasis and their live version of Don't Look Back ...at River Plate , Argentina !!!..they're very reminiscent of my favorite The Beatles !!!). Well he didn't say anything like: **** Noel/Liam or something the like. His response was rather mature. He said when you are making music for such a long time there comes a moment when you ssimply need a break. But he also said he's sure they'll get back together... What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 22-12-2011 my money is on a 2014 20th reunion anniversary tour of their debut set "definately maybe" |
