Jerome Wrote:Another bit of useless information - if you buy the remastered Heavy Horses CD it includes 2 new tracks - Broadford Bazaar & Living in These Hard Times. Both are excellent.

The original - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvdZUzMjH7E
The remastered CD - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKNYfd3riF8

Thanks – and I see what you mean about the bass drum etc. As it happens, I do have the remastered disc, having worn out the previous one.
Re John Glascock, in hindsight, a better track to highlight him might have been Journey Man – the bassline is stupendous.

Ed Cassidy was born on 04 May 1923 he died on 06 December 2012 at the age of 89. He was the drummer and percussionist with the psychedelic/prog/rock band, Spirit, for 30 years (barring a few short intervals). Spirit disbanded in 1997 when Cassidy was 73 – not because of anything to do with him; the lead singer and guitarist, Randy California (aged 45) had died whilst rescuing his son from a riptide, which he managed to do, but then was drowned himself. Tragic.

Mr Skin (as Cassidy was also known) was so called because way before the days of skinheads, he preferred a clean-shaven pate – he also always wore black. A varied an interesting life had him serving in the US Navy during WWII and returning to music afterwards as a hardworking troubadour, playing the circuit. He, Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder were central figures in the fairly short-lived band, The Rising Sons in the early sixties, and the next band of significance that Cassidy joined was Spirit. He was more than twenty years older than the next oldest in the group – must have kept him young! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_%28band%29

I’ve listened to their album Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus which I think might be considered their tour de force – with good reason. They were quite well known for this track, back in the day –

Yes, indeed, Journeyman is classic Glascock. A very talented man. BTW, have you ever seen this - https://youtu.be/sAHKWlugQ80 Tull in full flight.

Davey Johnstone was born on this day in 1951, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Guitarist and player of other stringed things, mandolin, sitar, banjo …. he came to the notice of Bernie Taupin’s producer, Gus Dudgeon, whilst playing with Magna Carta (he’s on Seasons and the fabulous Songs From Wasties Orchard – illustrious beginnings!) which resulted in him contributing to Elton John’s Madman Across the Water, and subsequently, an invitation to join the Elton John Band, which he did; wise move.

He’s been involved with many other musicians along the way, he’s a versatile guy – Joan Armatrading, Meatloaf, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger (^coincidentally), Stevie Nicks (Bella Donna, which I love and her latest, that I don’t), and so on, but he has the distinction of rarely being absent from anything Elton John has done since the late 70’s, including tours (he played his 2000[SUP]th[/SUP] show in 2009) and is credited on 20 of Sir Reggie’s albums.

Slightly off the beaten track – Davey Johnstone, Elton John and Rod Stewart were all involved with Long John Baldry’s Everthing Stops for Tea – I like this traditional song from that album – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj-kCqa4pQU

… and the classic lead track from Madman Across the Water –
