What Are You Listening To? - mtthwibrahim - 30-11-2011 Red-King Crimson one of the definitive prog masterpieces. Shockingly complex and quite heavy (especially considering it's time) What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-11-2011 ![]() THE SCRIPT "science & faith" cd, 2010. second album from this Irish trio, received rave reviews for their debut album, which i have not heard, and mixed reviews from this, their second release...and i too am in two minds as to whether i like or dislike this one as it is a borderline grading here. some good rock sounds and vocals, but unfortunately for the band its all too much of a muchness IMO ie: the songs for the most part all sound the same....a bit more variation and i would have like this quite a bit, nothing great on here and four tracks that i just couldnt 'get into'. the album reached #1 here in Australia, Canada and the UK and got a respectable #3 placing in the States...obviously i am missing something that the kids of today "totally get"?! I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track:nothing...(that is the title of the song) best track: time=love tracks: 1. you wont feel a thing * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TpBo61DyHM&feature=related audio 2. for the first time ** 3. nothing * 4. science and faith ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCZOGANCOKE&feature=related audio 5. if you ever come back ** 6. long gone and moved on * 7. dead man walking * 8. this=love ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LglGc2sVqyE audio 9. walk away ** 10.exit wounds ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYehN7mWMyU&feature=related audio 3s=0 2s=6 1s=4 rating: 1.6 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 30-11-2011 ^^ same here have not heard any of their albums have heard 3 or 4 singles like them after a few times hearing them, but they all sound the same What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 30-11-2011 from my library (vinyl) ![]() Thought I liked this more than I did on this listen. Seven years between spins can do that. It can muddy things up or clear them up. State of mind I guess. Not a real bad album, just not a real Doors album. Put together after Jimmy bit the dust. Some of his poetry, probably when he was stoned immaculate, then the remaining group members added the music. Nice music for the most part, and cleverly put together. Just the concept of it seems kind of dry, wondering if Jim would have even approved. He had planned on releasing this himself, but not with the Doors. Seven years after his death seems a long time to come up with this. Probably legal issues entered into that. The Morrison poetry was originally recorded in 69-70. A live version of Roadhouse Blues made it on here someway, along with excerpts of a few other Doors tracks. Maybe an album for those who became late fans and want that complete collection, but don't think of it as a Doors album. Made #54 on the U.S. charts. I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Lament Best Track - Dawn's Highway/Newborn Awakening Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind. Me and my -ah- mother and father - and a Grandmother and a grandfather - were driving through The desert, at dawn, and a truck load of Indian Workers had either hit another car, or just - I don't Know what happened - but there were Indians scattered All over the highway, bleeding to death. So the car pulls up and stops. That was the first time I tasted fear. I musta' been about four - like a child is Like a flower, his head is just floating in the Breeze, man. The reaction I get now thinking about it, looking Back - is that the souls of the ghosts of those dead Indians...maybe one or two of 'em...were just Running around freaking out, and just leaped into my Soul. And they're still in there. Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind. Blood in the streets in the town of New Haven Blood stains the roofs and the palm trees of Venice Blood in my love in the terrible summer Bloody red sun of Phantastic L.A. Blood screams her brain as they chop off her fingers Blood will be born in the birth if a nation Blood is the rose of mysterious union Blood on the rise, it's following me. Indian, Indian what did you die for? Indian says, nothing at all. 1) Awake * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAwx0Zk35LA 2) Ghost Song ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3Ja7wDuY9o 3) Dawn's Highway/Newborn Awakening *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcvqEuglm2I 4) To Come Of Age * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrhWL5dawxE 5) Black Polished Chrome/Latino Chrome ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFpevPjFW_s 6) Angels And Sailors/Stoned Immaculate ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuZ08uM9bI8 7) The Movie * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul5HTPES-yU 8) Curses, Invocations ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX48zs20yt8 9) American Night * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGQ9VJDYPs4 10) Roadhouse Blues ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7Kzrn9H09E 11) Lament * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7aB09T8R9k 12) The Hitchhiker * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBTV_5PM-5s 13) An American Prayer ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pkymTQysNg 3's - 1 2's - 6 1's - 6 Grade - 1.5 so many albums, so little time What Are You Listening To? - Apostrophe(') - 30-11-2011 Been listening to Santana's The Best Instrumentals, which is pretty self explanatory. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-12-2011 ![]() MEAT LOAF "hang cool, teddy bear" cd, 2010. Meat's 11th studio outing and dear oh dear.... how hard has the once mighty Meat Loaf fallen....i know its sometimes difficult to distance past glories from present failures, and in this case i wish i was listening to "deadringer","bat out of hell" or even its sequel in "bat out of hell II"... i know Jim Steinman is once again out of the picture, and Meat always struggles without those epic charasmatic opus songs, he does those character songs really well, but when confronted with straight foreward rock n roll he falters, and does so badly.. thats not to say there are no good tracks on here, there are, but only just over half of them 8/13 in fact. the most interesting one is the third track "los angeloser" which is a boppy mover complete with "scratching", a few "yo baby's" and "check this outs", and a cool rock beat, so it is my favourite one here. the second last track "if it rains" comes pretty close to being the best one,its a good rock ballad with hints of past glories...although neither is worthy of *** they could over more time and exposure!.. Steve Vai and Brian May both make guest appearances here as does Jack Black... look, the album probably isnt as bad as it sounds but as ive said:compared to previous albums it is dissapointing! oh yeh, the album is loosely based on a novel on the same name by Kilian Kerwin, its the story of an injured, dying soldier reflecting back over his life and what could be if he were to survive and get back home... I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: peace on earth best track: los angeloser tracks: 1. peace on earth * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nr6F4GYBdA live 2. living on the outside * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkQPmdoId_I live 3. los angeloser ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeRKFA3YogY&ob=av2e video(vevo) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7FquwlRXOE live 4. if i cant have you ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPr--b6ERhA audio 5. love is not real * 6. like a rose ** 7. song of madness * 8. did you ever love somebody? ** 9. california isnt big enough * 10.running away from me ** 11.lets be in love ** 12.if it rains ** 13.elvis in vegas ** 3s=0 2s=8 1s=5 rating: 1.6 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 01-12-2011 ^^ heard this when it came out felt the same as you a few good songs, but nothing compared to his best What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 01-12-2011 ![]() ok, had this one since it came out, only just got round to hearing it...heard it twice over the last couple of days to make sure my first impressions were valid. THIS IS A BRILLIANT ALBUM!... dont know anything about Leon, but i sure know enough about Elton to make that call, these songs are as good as anything Elton released back in the 1970s,early 1980s, and to those on his "songs from the west coast" album from several years ago. this is classic Elton...probably due in no small part to Bernie Taupin once again in his corner... Brian Wilson does some backing vocals on here as a favour to Leon because Leon was there in the Beach Boy days playing piano on a lot of their tracks, also, Neil Young makes a surprise appearance singing guest vocals on one track..."gone to shiloh". not a single dud track on this one at all, just very good to brilliant songs by Elton and his "idol".... well worth buying, especially if you like the 'classic' Elton years! from the album: hey ahab http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5hZ6maMj3A live monkey suit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz5s4fifleQ audio gone to shiloh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvXK1-b3YXY audio when love is dying http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcCFdD1Fa9k&feature=related live never to old(to hold somebody) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJm7XoJtfI8 live What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 01-12-2011 ^^ you're killin' me here How I am I supposed to buy all this stuff? damn that cover's cool |
