KASABIAN "west ryder pauper lunatic asylum" cd, 2009. #1 UK, #126 US, #49 AU.
British band Kasabian's third album...these guys are sort of a cross between Stone Roses and Oasis IMO,musically more alligned with SR, but lyrically,vocally and attitudewise they are Oasis.
most of the track on the first half of the album only just make the like rating, but the second half is sublime IMO...i love their slower quieter moments,thus the five love tracks...
group won the 'best group' award at the Brits and "best album" at the Q-awards in the UK in 2009/10...allup a very good album overall,up there with their "veliciraptor" album from 2011.

COUNTING CROWS "underwater sunshine" cd,2012.
i actually bought this one a week or so prior to Music Head reviewing it as a new release back in April of this year, got mine on recommendation from Corey...
was a bit dissolusioned by the poor score MH gave it(1.6 from memory?)...
usually MH,Corey and myself are on a similar wavelength(well, within reason anyway)
a covers album by the Crows...thankfully they are all obscure covers, and the fact that i only knew "ooh la la" and "you aint goin' nowhere" previously(Faces and Dylan covers respectively), i have no problem with this album,
album starts off pretty uptempo and alt.rock style initially, then gradually slides into some psuedo-country sounds towards the second half until its comclusion at track fifteen...
i like this album,love the vocalists vocals,kept thinking of REM whilst listening,probably not accurate in places but it does have a bit of a Michael Stipe feel to some of it...
all up, not a bad album with three tracks i love, and only two i dislike, which aint too bad over fifteen tracks.
allmusic rate this one a converted 1.8, my score is slightly higher...

3 DOORS DOWN "the better life" cd,1999.
Mississippi group's best selling album, contains the smash hit Kryptonite....
allmusic call these guys 'hard rock'...WTF???, maybe their other albums are,but i dont know, i havent heard them???!!!
not bad songs on here for the most part, but nothing quite as good or catchy as that Kryptonite song...which is the whole reason i got this one, but over time even that has becoma a bit monotonous sounding....still love the kooky video though, nothing i would say is great with several tracks i dislike immensely, but still worth it for the above mentioned song...

Scottish Ferdinand's third....
guess i got this in a discount bin on the strength of their earlier hit singles which i love...shame i dont love this one though,
very little to sing about here IMO, nothing as catchy as their previous songs, all too much of a muchness bland going nowhere songs...no "take me out" on here,wish someone had taken them out before they recorded this one
just over half are ok i guess but the remainder are abysmal, wouldnt recommend this one to anyone

GRINDERMAN "grinderman" cd, 2007.
Grinderman aka Nick Cave & The Bed Seeds, well three of the bad seeds anyway...
dunno just how many albums this one is into his carrer as he has been quite prolific over the decades,
not my favourite Cave album by any means...
lyrically its darker,sicker, in general more deranged than his Bad Seeds work(is that really possible???!!)...mixed with some heavy grungy music to boot...
not as good as grindermanII IMO, but thats my opinion, still, a good Cave album,great my most artists standards but by his high benchmark...nowhere near brilliant.
