From Steel Wheels an album I like ! High energy on Mixed Emotions and a very good standard blues number ...Fancy Man Blues....people forget that Mick can play a mean harp! Overall vintage Stones!

love this Stones "a" side from the late 1980s...
"b" side is pretty good also, and im not a big fan of these guys!
single only got to #26 here,a dissapointing effort by the record buying public here IMO!

I've seen the live concert where he sings the comical version of Lonesome Tonight! Of course we all know Teddy Bear!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:ELVIS PRESLEY "are you lonesome tonight(breakup version)" b/w "(let me be your)teddy bear" 1981

...'breakup version'????,its a live version of his old 1960 hit recorded live in 1969, during the song The King changes the lines to "do you gaze at your bald head, and wish you had hair"...for the rest of the song he is in hysterics at the continured perfect 'on'pitch' vocals of the female back up singer who didnt flinch or lose a note when he sung that line...it is genuinely funny stuff, and his laughing actually gets me laughing...its so infectious...
"b" side is simply the old 1957 hit 'teddy bear'...
i was surprised to find the single actually charted, it peaked at #72 here...
you guys should listen to this version of the song, you'll either love or hate it, my guess is you will love it!

I also love all the tracks on the EP...of course!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:THE BEATLES "twist and shout-ep" 1963

four track ep from the Fab Four...
tracks on it are: twist and shout, do you want to know a secret, a taste of honey, there's a place...
superb ep IMO, love all four tracks on offer, ep also contains tow of my favourite Beatle tracks in "twist and shout" and "do you want to know a secret"...
sublime stuff..was actually surprised to find the ep only reached a peak of #5 here, should have been a #1 hit...
not putting up links for this one as we all know and love the songs from this period of their career!!!!

I must revisit the London Calling album ! Very uplifting..all great songs! The thing that fascinated me about the LC album was the fact that all the songs connected together without a pause between each track!

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:THE CLASH "stand by me(train in vain)" b/w "bankrobber" and "rockers galore" 1980

another single off the classic "london calling" album that failed to chart here...
love 'stand by me' and 'bankrobber', the third track 'rockers galore' is also pretty good...

Gotta like these guys...good song writing...a dark sound at times but I like it!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:DEPECHE MODE "stripped" b/w "but not tonight" 1986

as you can see, ive got quite a few Depeche Mode singles, and theres probably a few more to come yet...
i used to love this one when it came out, time hasnt treated this one as good as some of their other tracks, but its still okay overall..
"b" side is okay also, and as i remember i didnt like this back in the day...so strange???
single failed to chart here but did okay on the UK charts from memory

Crazy mate, when did you start to buy albums or did you buy both singles and albums at the same time? I started off with 45s also and then about two years later I switched to albums and the odd single where I thought the album wasn't worth buying,,,singles like Spirit in the Sky, Green Eyed Lady, He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother. Something in the Air by Thunderclap Newman,,,,.. and mainly because a lot of my friends only had albums.

THE KINKS "lola(live)" b/w "you really got me(live)" , "celluloid heroes(live)" 1980

a live single by one of the finest bands from the 1960s....
released to coincide with a tour Down Under...
ive heard better live versions of these songs over the years, but its really hard to knock these guys, theyre rock legends!
single got to #69 here, the old studio originals did a lot better though!

PAUL McCARTNEY "tropical island hum" b/w "we all stand together" 2004

a little gem of a song that im pretty sure you guys would never have heard before...
the "b" side was originally an "a" side, already posted it in this thread...that one comes from a Macca cartoon, the "a" side also comes from a Macca cartoon aimed at children....not sure what the cartoon is this time around but the first one was 'rupert and the frog song'
single got to #21 in the UK, it was not released here and i got it on import order...

MIKE OLDFIELD "moonlight shadow" b/w "rite of man" 1983

love both these tracks, not sure who the female vocalist is on the "a" side track but she has a nice voice...
"b" side, male vocal, is it Mike or someone else???
ther you go...youtube clip says female vocalist is Maggie Reilly and that Mike does the vocals himself on the "b" side which sounds like something Jona Lewie would have recorded!
single got to #6 here

MELODY MAKER music magazine floppy disc vinyl... 1982

single is a floppy vinyl that needs to be weighed down in the centre in order to play...it was a regular gimmick by mELOD to either promote new bands, have unreleased tracks by known tracks or exclusive live recordings by established acts...

this one contains one track by THE THE who were relatively new back then, the track is okay, but not as catchy as their latter material from the mid 1980s..
second track is by a group called THE SINES, ive never seen any material by them and cannot locate any artist info in the 'www', so im a loss with these guys but love the track immensely, just hope theres a link available on youtube...
