i-Pod listening in the garden this PM.
One of the Hip Hop albums I do like, from 1988, which must make this a vintage release.
There's some intelligence on display here, although some of the US history and politics is a bit skewed, and the references to the Nation of Islam misguided IMV.
Nevertheless, a good album.

Currently listening on the laptop.
Released in 1996.
This is odd. Despite this album being riddled with the sort of stuff that usually turns me straight off Hip Hop, I'm liking it.
A celebration of the Gangsta lifestyle, this isn't something that I should find myself liking, I thought, but there's something compelling in the mood of the piece.
Praps I'm becoming a homey...
Either way, this makes the Buy List.

Stevie's 1972 release that was in the middle of his run of early-'70s purple patch albums.
Mostly beautifully crafted love songs, with a couple of social commentaries, including the peerless Superstition.
A Soul classic.

Soulful Hip-Hop, from 1991.
I've always loved this album, so the right sort of H-H has appealed for years.
A dreamy exposition on peace, love, & harmony which, whilst not the only one, is a relatively rare thing for this genre.
Great stuff.

The most recent of his Blueprint albums, from 2009.
Hip-Hop at the juggernaut end of the scale, including all manner of collaborators. I can respond in some way to Jay-Z, maybe because the musical side of his work is usually interesting, so this comes across as a likeable album.
Doing a bit of research on his back-catalog, I'm intrigued by an MTV Unplugged Hip-Hop album...
Onto the Buy List.
