What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 09-10-2011 To be followed by 'Long Road Out of Eden' - The Eagles - yes I know you can't beat 'HC' but the title track is damn good. Come to think of it - the opening sequence sounds exactly the same as APP's 'In the Lap of the Gods' mmm........ Regardless the harmonies are just awesome. What Are You Listening To? - mtthwibrahim - 09-10-2011 Future Days-Can after pioneering a sort of frantic experimental rock sound, Can move on to a more minimalistic and laid-back sound. The result is absolutely fantastic, perhaps the best thing the band ever did What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 09-10-2011 Jerome Wrote:To be followed by 'Long Road Out of Eden' - The Eagles - yes I know you can't beat 'HC' but the title track is damn good.Heard this for the first time when I was at my daughters in Florida. Was pleasantly surprised. What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 09-10-2011 Music Head Wrote:Heard this for the first time when I was at my daughters in Florida. Agree - has some really nice tracks. My favourite by them has to be 'The Last Resort' - an epic sort of track. Play that one more than HC. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 09-10-2011 Jerome Wrote:Agree - has some really nice tracks.wow! unreal same here We satifsy our endless needs and justify our bloody deeds, in the name of destiny and in the name of God that sends chills What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 10-10-2011 Hergest Ridge - Mike Oldfield - this guy's imagination is just incredible - I wonder why no-one followed in his footsteps - this is what we should be creating these days instead of trivia-pop. Part 2 is a really awesome piece. What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 10-10-2011 Music Head Wrote:wow! unreal Mr Henley's most thought-provoking lyrics ever. A real classic. What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 10-10-2011 ![]() PETER CRISS "out of control" 1980,cd. this is the second solo album, and first since his departure from KISS earlier in the year. it is a fine rock album, but dont expect a KISS sounding one as you wont find it here, this is more a blues rock, out and out rock and ballads album and the "cat-man" doesnt dissapoint. all the tracks here were written or co-written by Peter Criscolla himself except "you better run", which incidently became a minor hit for Pat Benatar in the same year. there are none of the usual KISS themes here, instead we have a mature album where subject matter deals with relationships and life in general, the opening track "by myself" is my pick of the tracks here and it deals with the pro's and con's of Criss having to deal with life after being in one of the greatest live bands of the 1970's. Criss proves here that there is more to him than being a 'sticks man' and also that he is capable of writing more than just one classic song(the well known one being "beth"). unfortunately for Criss all subsequent albums fail to match this one and the "kiss" solo set from 1978. I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: out of control best track: by myself tracks: 1. by myself *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuKKF3hi6uw audio 2. in trouble again ** 3. where will they run *** 4. i found love ** 5. there's nothing better ** 6. out of control ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwVgWdJt7gA video 7. words *** 8. you better run ** 9. my life ** 10. feel like letting go *** 3s=4 2s=6 1s=0 rating: 2.4 What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 10-10-2011 ^^ Just gave By Myself a listen good track nice strings thanks What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 10-10-2011 from my library (cd) ![]() A gift from the crazy man. Packaged as a 3 cd set but it is 3 different studio albums so I will listen and review in different sittings. Never heard of this Aussie band but they've been around since the 80's and still kickin', so they must be doing something right. The only remaining member from the original lineup is vocalist Joe Camilieri so it must not have been all smooth sailing. Looks like they had some Australian hits back in the early days and I guess they're still riding that wave. Started as a bar band doing covers and that's what this debut album is. Nothing shows as charting from here, but What A Difference A Day Makes was released as a single. Almost made my worst. That goes to the instrumental Blow Jow Blow, which I guess is an original in name only. Certainly not original sounding. Favorite is a Fats Domino cover for which there is no clip. Nice cover of Brown Eyed Girl and the accordian gives it a special flavor. Didn't need the live version added as the last track. A few decent covers, a few bad covers, but the fact that it's covers makes me pass on it. Looking forward to some original material on those other 2 albums though. Band has a good sound with Joe a good vocalist. I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Blow Joe Blow Best Track - Before I Grow Too Old I'm going go out Fancying every night And I'm gonna see All the city lights And I'm gonna do everything That I been told But I got to hurry up Before I grow too old And I'm-a take a trip Around the world And I'm gonna kiss All the pretty girls And I'm gonna do everything With silver and gold But I got to hurry up Before I grow too old Because I'm gonna do a lot of Things I know is wrong And I hope that I'm forgiven Before I'm gone And it will take a lot of Prayers to save my soul But I got to hurry up Before I grow too old I'm gonna do a lot of Things I know is wrong So I hope that I'm forgiven Before I'm gone And it will take a lot of Prayers to save my soul But I got to hurry up Before I grow too old 1) Brown Eyed Girl ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ih3-fiP_OY 2) You Better Move On ** 3) Have Mercy ** 4) What A Difference A Day Makes * 5) Before I Grow Too Old ** 6) Don't Look Back ** 7) Promised Land * 8) Young Boy Blues ** 9) Blow Joe Blow * 10) Brown Eyed Girl * 3's - 0 2's - 6 1's - 4 Grade - 1.6 so many albums, so little time |
