Complex questions demand complex answers that don't pay off overnight; I don't think carpet-bombing the innocents is the answer. Remember these are for the most part asymmetric guerrilla groups we are talking about, not some massed, easy-to-see army.

Putin was a former member of the KGB so his anti West philosophy still prevails ! I don't understand why he's still around anyway...do they have an eight year threshold like the US ? He's been the prime minister before he was president...been in power now since 1999....go figure ! It's obvious that he wanted Crimea for access to the Meditteranean Sea/Atlantic Ocean...if Ukraine falls he has control over the Black Sea by which he can access the Mediterranean through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles Straits( if Turkey allows them to do so ? )....also the majority of the Ukrainian people are of Ukrainian descent ( 77 % ) as opposed to only 17% Russian...so I don't know where the theory of liberating the Russian people came from ? The alternative for the West is minimal. continue with economic sanctions in order to avert a Third World War of catastrophic proportions !

Then there's the deadly Ebola ! Maybe we won't have to worry about the world in conflict if the disease hits our countries ! Hopefully it can be contained for the most part in West Africa !

Another dilemma is the fact that Russia has good relations with Syria ! ...makes things dangerous if the West bombs Syria....
