THE ROLLING STONES "mixed emotions" b/w "fancy man blues" 1989
love this Stones "a" side from the late 1980s...
"b" side is pretty good also, and im not a big fan of these guys!
single only got to #26 here,a dissapointing effort by the record buying public here IMO!

i like this "a" side, but as usual with these guys, the "b" side simply dont cut it for me!
single did pretty well on the uK charts from memory, but only made it to #89 here, single was better than that though IMO

THE CURE "the love cats" b/w "speak my language" 1983
pretty sure this is the only single of theirs that i own, and i dont own any albums....
i was never a fan of these guys at all, they were just too "out there" for me back in the day...
i do like this 'kooky' little "a" side and the video was fun to watch also...
"b" side isnt too bad neither IMO, but the single still doesnt make me want to buy an album of theirs!
single was probably their biggest hit here chalking up two weeks at a peak placingof #6 before slipping away out of the charts.

DESMOND DEKKER & THE ACES "ep!" 1984
a six track best of ep released here in 1984...
contains his hit singles from back around 69-91ish.
i wasnt aware until the other day that Dekker was actually the first Reggae artist to have a #1 hit in the UK..."the israelites" in 1969.
im not a fan of reggae normally, but this is outstanding stuff IMO.
'ep' failed to chart here, but 'the israelites' did get to #5 back in the day and "you can get it if you reallt want" got to #17 in 1970...

a French punk single....
love both sides of this disc, have no idea what the heck he is singing about, but it so cool IMO,
actually found out a while ago that Mr.Plastic was exactly that!, he didnt sing on the songs at all, guess he was all Milli Vanilli before Milli Vanilli LOL!

oh my God!....must be multi-cultural day in my house...see, i can be politically correct sometimes!
Nena, a German artist, had a huge hit with "99 luft balloons",i have that, hasnt come out yet, this was the follow up single, "A" side sung in english, "b" side in the Deuscher language...
"a" side is okay but not a patch on that balloon thing!, this one didnt set the charts on fire here, stalling at #71 on our charts!

sort of multi cultural again with Geno being an Italian name...

Mick Talbot, keys guy from Style Council was with them back then...
i like the "a" side but love the "b" side which is a cover of an old soul track, cant recall the original, but i have heard a couple of versions, this is the best IMO....
single got to #1 in their homeland but could only manage #44 here, that would change a couple of years down the track with the classic 'come on eileen'

love this track, they did a fine effort with this Springsteen cover,think i prefer this over his original...
