I'm sure hundreds at least have won amateur talent shows in the past and gone on to greatness !...they just weren't televised !....lol..In the golden olden days how else would they be discovered ?

yeh...Elvis was one...came runner up in a Tennessee competition in 1953ish..he sang "old shep"
that aside though...he was still out there singing prior to that...
i guess the difference is, these guys nowadays have no 'history' and what the heck is their bio going to read in 20-30yrs time... "oh yeh i went on idol and made it"...no great story like say The Beatles who did the sleazy clubs in Hamburg and The Cavern and have lots of stories to tell prior to becoming famous!

here's my problem with it
It seems that you dislike these artists based on the fact that they made it via a talent show
rather than being based on whether they have any talent
seems illogical to me for someone who loves music
