Politics - Oceansoul - 08-05-2017 So, Le Pen lost the election in France. I hope Macron improves things there. Congrats to him. Politics - CRAZY-HORSE - 08-05-2017 I see Macron as part of "the old guard", no new ideas, just much of the same... Le Pen would have come in, brushed all the crap from under the carpet and started things over from scratch IMO... with Macron, the refugees and potential terrorists will still come in, France will stay stuck in the EU with all its antiquated rules and regulations. things will not improve there, or should I say, have a chance of improving for its citizens, just more fear and uncertaincy, but the people have spoken and now they have to live by their decision! Politics - Oceansoul - 08-05-2017 Macron seems sensible and recognizes the feelings of disaffected voters and supports reform and such. Hopefully he isn't too much of a neoliberal and helps the people. I have guarded optimism. France has spoken and rejected what Le Pen represented. I'm glad she lost and she had some rather extremist positions. She is too divisive and I doubt things would've improved under her leadership - likely the opposite. Also her nationalism makes me feel uneasy. I would like to see change, but a different kind of change. Politics - Oceansoul - 10-05-2017 F.B.I. Director Comey has been fired by Trump. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/09/us/politics/james-comey-fired-fbi.html?_r=0 I thought this would happen eventually. Should have happened sooner. Politics - Lovely Linda - 10-05-2017 From the White House: New Director to be named in days. And the investigation starts over again. Hillary will die of old age before this is finished. Politics - Music Head - 10-05-2017 and the circus continues Politics - SteveO - 13-05-2017 Exactly! Le Pen would have been the French Trump! Now they have the old do nothing guard! France has a serious internal dilemma ...hotbed of terrorism...seems like France takes the brunt of massive terrorist attacks! Politics - Jerome - 13-05-2017 You should see the outskirts of Paris - a festering slum with lots of very radical and unhappy people. Don't get me wrong, Paris has it's attractions, but there is, as you say, one huge problem waiting to happen. And happen it will. A lot of the larger French cities are infested with gangs and nutballs. And just as a note to French members - I think you have a stunning country and spectacular food to go with it. I am particularly fond of the south. Some amazing places to see. Politics - Jerome - 13-05-2017 Macron is a rabbit in the headlights - he does not have a clue. |
