What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 19-09-2011 Tonight - something totally different. Some time ago I required the services of a professional cellist (Evva Mizerska) to help me realise a part I was dabbling with. She did a magnificent job (she always does) and as a result I have purchased her first CD - Complete Works for Cello and Piano - Krzysztof Meyer. Going to give that a whirl tonight - not sure what to expect but I am keeping an open mind. Time for a change. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 19-09-2011 mtthwibrahim Wrote:Songs of Leonard Cohen-Leonard Cohennever know where to put Leonard his own genre those 2 albums are my favorites also What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 19-09-2011 Off the beaten path a little Mr. J...but the Eno/Holland cd you mentioned is extremely good and addictive ....my third listening today !!!!...thanks man ! I know you'll enjoy Evva's cd ! Jerome Wrote:Tonight - something totally different. Music Head Wrote:never know where to put Leonard What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 19-09-2011 Good luck on the lotto ! Jerome Wrote:I did something right? Jeez gotta buy lotto tickets tonight. What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 20-09-2011 Dug out an old copy of Strawbs 'Deadlines' album - have not heard this for one for years and years. Another classic cover by Hipgnosis - A man drowning inside a telephone booth - deadlines indeed! Man those guys had imagination.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadlines_(Strawbs_album) What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-09-2011 Music Head Wrote:never know where to put Leonard not that im a great fan of LC yet, but he certainly deserves his own genre as does His Bobness, both of whom are totally unique and original IMHO. What Are You Listening To? - Jerome - 20-09-2011 Alan Parsons Project - A Valid Path - and another classic Storm Thorgersen cover. What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 20-09-2011 from my library (cd) Another of my $5 purchases, damn I'm cheap. Have a compilation on vinyl and a few studio albums, but these guys were good enough for a $5 cd. Studio albums never rated that high for me, but they had some damn good singles. Never Been To Spain was always my favorite but 6 other tracks also get a top mark, and nothing bad. Even the covers pass the test. Shambala is my least favorite. Prefer the original by the little known B.W. Stevenson. Mama Told Me Not To Come, Newman's is better. The Show Must Go On was a classic by Leo Sayer, but the TDN version is equally fantastic. One drawback with the group for me was that they seldom wrote their own material. But they could pick em. Or maybe their manager or label or whatever. The hits were good. I LOVE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Shambala Best Track - Never Been To Spain Well I never been to Spain But I kinda like the music They say the ladies are insane there And they sure know how to use it They don't abuse it Never gonna lose it I can't refuse it Well I never been to England But I kinda like the Beatles Well, I headed for Las Vegas Only made it out to Needles Can you feel it Must be real it feels so good Oh, feels so good Well I never been to Heaven But I been to Oklahoma Well they tell me I was born there But I really don't remember In Oklahoma, not Arizona What does it matter What does it matter Whoa, I never been to Spain But I kinda like the music Say the ladies are insane there And they sure know how to use it They don't abuse it Never gonna lose it I can't refuse it Well I never been to Heaven But I been to Oklahoma Well they tell me I was born there But I really don't remember In Oklahoma, not Arizona What does it matter What does it matter 1) Joy To The World *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xB4W8thG28 2) Shambala ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnyh6i9NvmE 3) One ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiKcd7yPLdU 4) An Old Fashioned Love Song *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM7zb5FMmLM 5) Black & White *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68i4tMmv9F4 6) Mama Told Me Not To Come ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKaQzQAlNn4 7) Never Been To Spain *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EabH3kJumz0 8) Liar ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtTGfWDamVE 9) Eli's Coming ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U0viaAqouA 10) Easy To Be Hard *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXtNG_oFpZE 11) Celebrate *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXI6CdTVJ-0 12) The Show Must Go On *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtAlzo_pqys 3's - 7 2's - 5 1's - 0 Grade - 2.6 so much music, so little time |
