RE: what's for dinner/tea? - Jerome - 04-09-2020 See! I told you so... Is there anything you DON'T know Ruby. You're a walking library of information. I used to go to a gay restaurant (no, not for that - for the food dummies) in the Bo-Kaap - can't remember what the hell it was called but by God could they cook. Some amazing dishes and at really reasonable prices too. Clientele was a mix of straight and gay patrons. I was the one standing/ sitting with my back to the wall. And they played decent music too. A great spot. RE: what's for dinner/tea? - CRAZY-HORSE - 04-09-2020 ^^ LOL Ruby probably ate there also RE: what's for dinner/tea? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-09-2020 we've always got a frozen microwavable TV dinner in the freezer for that once in a blue moon evening we cant be bothered.... tonight was one of those nights. wish it hadnt have been, was bland unappetising crap. RE: what's for dinner/tea? - Ruby - 06-09-2020 I'll be having a hot toddy or two, with ginger and cayenne as well as whatever else I can dream up that will chase away a nasty head cold. Blegh.
RE: what's for dinner/tea? - CRAZY-HORSE - 07-09-2020 fish fillet with a parsley based sauce and steamed vegetables RE: what's for dinner/tea? - Jerome - 12-09-2020 I bought a couple of books by Gino D'Acampo the Italian celebrity chef. If you like Italian food (and I am a disciple ), these books are brilliant. I have been trying a couple of recipes and these meals are ridiculously easy to make and are very, very tasty. Last night a tomato soup with peppers and onions. Spectacular meal. His recipes are in a different league altogether. RE: what's for dinner/tea? - Ruby - 12-09-2020 God bless the Italians – life would be very much poorer without pesto, pasta and parmesan, not to mention all the other p’s they seem to do so well! RE: what's for dinner/tea? - CRAZY-HORSE - 12-09-2020 i agree RE: what's for dinner/tea? - Jerome - 13-09-2020 (12-09-2020, 15:57)Ruby Wrote: God bless the Italians – life would be very much poorer without pesto, pasta and parmesan, not to mention all the other p’s they seem to do so well! PIZZA!!!! When I was in Naples I had the real McCoy - unbelievably good. The so-called 'pizza' they sell in all the standard pizza outlets here in Ireland is nothing short of crap. Plastic food. Incidentally in one of Gino's books there is a good pizza recipe that I still have to get around to. Maybe later today. RE: what's for dinner/tea? - CRAZY-HORSE - 13-09-2020 i had the pleasure many years ago of being in the aquaintance of someone from Italy. his Nonna made some food for us, i was about 17, she would have been in her late 60s at that time, i would have said yes if she asked me to marry her.....if only for the food. was the best Italian bar-none i have ever eaten |
