Deep Purple - Made in Europe - mainly because I am a big fan of Mr Paice's drumming style.

a couple of weeks ago I bought Cathedral 'Ethereal Mirror', Cream 'Disraeli Gears' and Bob Dylan ' Bringing it all back home'

I've also just downloaded six tracks from Ed Rush and Optical 'Wormhole'. It was still cheaper than downloading the whole album, but only just.

Try the 'Come Hell or High Water' DVD. He does a solo on there that is just awesome. Most Deep Purple DVD's are quite crap but CHOHW is brilliant.

The only downside is that Mr Gillan's medication seems to take hold rather quickly towards the end and they really screw up a cover version of 'Paint it Black'. Otherwise excellent. He even manages to hit the notes on 'Child in Time'. And Mr Lord is brilliant in this. He makes the Hammond talk! High point is around the second chorus of 'Perfect Strangers' You get the sense the whole band is perfectly in tune. Great musical moment. Now I really must go and roll another spliff.
That's probably one you won't have to look up, Mr Music Head!

I finally completed my collection of the Beatles Remasters ( Stereo) with the purchase of Past Masters.....................

It made me think about EMI's next move

Logically , they have decided to put out The Red and Blue albums as remastered editions................Not really needed but, there are one or two alternative versions on here..............However, I think it is more an accountants move, as EMI are in financial trouble..........

However, it makes me wonder what their next move will be???

I guess there will be a few more Remastered editions yet

I guess we might see

  • The Beatles At The BBC ( I'm not sure how much they can improve the sound ...but they might take the chance to add the extra tracks that float around on singles )
  • Live At The Hollywood Bowl ( Guess they have the technology to clean that up abit and put it on CD for the First time )
  • Maybe the US and UK versions of Rock and Roll Music in one issue.
  • I wonder if they might give us some more of the Let It Be material.........there is plenty and EMI now have it but is it great stuff ?

Long Shots

  • There are a lot more BBC tracks but, are they worth an EMI issue?
  • There was supposed to be an equivalent of Anthology 4 and the DVDs shows that there was more unreleased takes worthy of merit .....................
  • Would they remaster the anthology sets ????????????
There are one of two other projects....................During Anthology EMI did locate many of the recording oddities that exist around the world ...............It made the Capitol sets possible but there are other world wide oddities ..............

One thing is clear EMI are in need of cash and this is their best option by far so watch this space:nod:Cool

interesting to hear your comments that EMI are in financial trouble? my question is why and how? are their artists not selling? how can they be in trouble when The Beatles sold almost 100million albums between
2000-09?(they came second to eminem in the decade sales)

I used to be a shareholder in EMI ...............They were sold to a group of companies at far below there real value a few years ago.

For the last ten years their profits have been poor and having lost many of their major artists ie Macca , Ringo plus other catalog difficulties they have been on the edge of calling in the receivers several times over the last few years.........hence the buy out.................if things don't turn round soon they will cease to exist quite soonCool
