Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 25-11-2012 like you SteveO...millions love it, but not me Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 25-11-2012 #453 - Toots & The Maytals - Pressure Drop - 1970 running recap for me - 3's=25, 2's=16, 1's=7 this one - * from the album: Monkey Man Written by Toots Hibbert Produced by Leslie Kong Chart action: the players: Toots Hibbert - lead vocal other people - other stuff One of the inventors of the genre. Then stupid americans hijacked it. Not a huge fan of reggae, but I do appreciate it in it's purest form. Not so much this one though. Once again it's the lyrics. I'm becoming a stickler for those. This says nothing to me and the music just passes. This song appeared in the film The Harder They Come and got the group some fans outside of Jamaica. Covered by the Clash, Robert Palmer, the Selecter, and the Specials. Lyrics It is you, oh yeah It is you, oh yeah I said a pressure drop, Oh pressure, oh yeah Pressure's gonna drop on you I said pressure drop Oh pressure, oh yeah Pressure's gonna drop on you I said when it drops Oh you gonna feel it Oh that you were doin' it wrong, wrong, wrong Now when it drops Oh you gonna feel it That you were doin' it wrong and how I said when it drops You gonna feel it That you've been doin' it wrong Now when it drops, drop You gonna feel it That you've been doin' wrong Now when it drops, drop Feel it You make the wrong move Now when it drops, drop You gonna feel it That you've been it doin' wrong I said, pressure drop Oh pressure, oh yeah Pressure's gonna drop on you Pressure drop Oh pressure, oh yeah Pressure's gonna drop on you Now when it drops on your dirty little head Where you gonna go? It's you, you, you When it drop on, oh you're gonna feel it What you're doing is wrong, wrong, wrong Pressure, pressure, pressure, pressure I said a pressure drop Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 26-11-2012 I have an import album by Toots so I have to say I like the song. Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-11-2012 i am not backing you up with this one SteveO...dont like it, and like MH, dont like Reggae much at all...a very limited genre in our opinions!, same could be said for blues also! Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 26-11-2012 #452 - Nirvana - Come As You Are - 1991 running recap for me - 3's=25, 2's=17, 1's=7 this one - ** from the album: Nevermind Written by Kurt Cobain Produced by Butch Vig Chart action: #32 US, #9 UK, #25 Australia, #27 Canada the players: Kurt Cobain – lead and backing vocals, guitar Krist Novoselic – bass Dave Grohl – drums, backing vocals Pulled this one up and immediately thought love. Listened to it again and changed that to a like. It just don't hold up. Second single from the bands second album. The one that made them a household name. Or was that Cobain offing himself. I forget. Kurt says the song is about people and what they're expected to act like. What the hell drugs are people on when they write this stuff? Guitar part in this song is said to sound like a part from a Killing Joke song, Eighties. A lawsuit was filed, but dropped after Cobain's death. Speculation as to that explanation, or whether it was thrown out of court. Looks like that would be public record. Depends on who you talk to I guess. Lyrics Come as you are, as you were, As I want you to be As a friend, as a friend, as an old enemy. Take your time, hurry up The choice is yours, don't be late. Take a rest, as a friend, as an old memoria Memoria [x3] Come dowsed in mud, soaked in bleach As I want you to be As a trend, as a friend, as an old memoria Memoria [x3] And I swear that I don't have a gun No I don't have a gun [x2] Memoria [x3] Memoria - and I don't have a gun And I swear that I don't have a gun No I don't have a gun [x4] Memoria [x2] Looking Back At Some Classics - CRAZY-HORSE - 26-11-2012 good song..but prefer the rough, ragged acoustic version and whats all that crap about "i swear i dont have a gun"????...you're a liar Cobain! Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 26-11-2012 I am not a big reggae fan either but I do like to listen to Marley, Toots and Peter Tosh from time to time. I think it's uplifting music for the most part. Looking Back At Some Classics - SteveO - 26-11-2012 Come as You Are ..ok song. I never really hooked up with Nirvana...I found them too dark overall ! Looking Back At Some Classics - Music Head - 27-11-2012 #451 - Sonny And Cher - I Got You Babe - 1965 running recap for me - 3's=26, 2's=17, 1's=7 this one - *** from the album: Look At Us Written by Sonny Bono Produced by Sonny Bono Chart action: #1 US, #1 UK, #1 Canada the players: Sonny & Cher – vocals Hal Blaine - drums don't know the others One of the greatest love songs ever written. Or maybe it was just my love for Sonny & Cher. Don't think I missed an episode. Whoulda thunk it? A couple of sixties hippies with their own show on primetime network tv. Sonny was the genius behind it all. Sonny begot Cher. And they gave birth to this classic, plus that Chasity mistake. This was written by Sonny when he was working for Phil Spector, for Cher not Phil. It became the duos biggest selling single and their signature song. Covered by many, most well known being Ub40 with Chrissie Hynde, in 1985, taking the song back to #1 in the UK. Lyrics They say we're young and we don't know We won't find out until we're grown Well I don't know if all that's true 'Cause you got me, and baby I got you Babe I got you babe I got you babe They say our love won't pay the rent Before it's earned, Our money's all been spent I guess that's so, we don't have a pot But at least I'm sure Of all the things we got Babe I got you babe I got you babe I got flowers in the spring I got you to wear my ring And when I'm sad, you're a clown And if I get scared, you're always around Don't let them say your hair's too long 'Cause I don't care, With you I can't go wrong Then put your little hand in mine There ain't no hill or mountain We can't climb Babe I got you babe I got you babe I got you to hold my hand I got you to understand I got you to walk with me I got you to talk with me I got you to kiss goodnight I got you to hold me tight I got you, I won't let go I got you to love me so I got you babe I got you babe I got you babe I got you babe Looking Back At Some Classics - danielkr94 - 27-11-2012 Me niether i have friends who loves them and who keeps trying to get me into their music, but it just doesn't do anything for me SteveO Wrote:Come as You Are ..ok song.
