question for Jerome! - SteveO - 30-06-2013 Paul, John and George's first and second albums were a continuation of The Beatles IMHO ! The tracks could have easily been on a Beatle album IMHO ! The Lennon/McCartney credits for most of their songs was standard. However in reality in most cases I think either Paul or John were responsible for the actual song...Yesterday from Paul, In My Life from John, etc...so therefore the Beatles' music was already at the solo artist stage! CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:great response Jerome, thanks mate! question for Jerome! - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-06-2013 i have an interview with Paul on dvd, he said they only truly co-wrote songs on the first three albums, after then it was mainly solitary but they did occasionally ask each other for help with a chord sequence or the odd line here or there when they were stuck, apparently the last time they actually worked together was on the Sgt Peppers album on several tracks....which is obvious because thats when all the arguements and friction started.... McCartney & Ram were definately continuations of The Beatles as Paul did use several old unreleased Beatles tracks on those albums, the most famous of which would surely be Maybe Im Amazed...by Band On The Run he found his own 'sound', and by "imagine" john discovered his sound also, both brilliant albums and both better than any Beatle album IMO(except for that stupid 'imagine' song which i detest!) LOL... i really wish Gryphon was here to help discuss this and give us definitive answers question for Jerome! - CRAZY-HORSE - 30-06-2013 Jerome Wrote:Just one last point on this subject from me and then I'll shut up. A lot of my old friends from SA who are 'beatlefreaks' are also big fans of Crowded House. And I do have all of their albums - go figure...... really?, i never would have figured you for a Crowded House fan Jerome, great stuff mate.....but IMO they are very similar to The Beatles in their song structure, melodies and lyrics in a lot of ways... Neil Finn was once asked in an interview "how to you respond when critics compare you to the Beatles?".... Finn's response..."its not true, there's only three of us!"....LMAO! i also think Neil Finn works best to a degree when he is sounding off his older brother Tim and competing with him....much like early John/Paul... question for Jerome! - SteveO - 03-07-2013 Yes indeed CH, I miss the 5th Beatle ! question for Jerome! - Jerome - 21-04-2014 OK I am finished shutting up for the moment (see previous post) - Was driving to the store to buy all the necessary junk to stay alive and Ringo comes on the radio with 'It Don't Come Easy'.
