yeah i agree Neil Young did add a lot to the csn+y mix

Steven Stills Manassas Down the road - CRAZY-HORSE - 19-03-2012

that said though...
the Stills-Young album "long may you run" lacked something also without the other two, i guess they simply bring out the best in eachother or at least have a chemistry as a foursome.

again...
i do like Nash's HOLLIES, Crosby's BYRDS, and BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD with Stills and Young

did you listen to it yet, CH ! I am absolutely sure that you will enjoy John Fogerty...same as seeing CCR imho !!!!as far as CSN goes , I do love the 3 part harmonies the group generates ...Suite Judy Blue Eyes homage to Judy Collins is absolute heaven !!!! Neil added an immeasurable edge/dimension to the group with his massive talent !

popped in to see Corey today...and i bought the one you mentioned above, lucky though as it ws the only Stills album in the store...been a bit of a ruch on his records lately...im guessing its because CSN are performing at the West Coast Blues & Roots Festival in a couple of weekends time...Corey also said sales of CCR have gone up slightly over the last week also as Fogerty is the headline act at the festival...for which Dani and I have tickets as you know from previous posts over the last few weeks.
personally, i dont care if i see CSN or not as i find their music boring without Neil Young in the loop, even though he tended to record his songs seperate from CSN he added something to the group, not sure what it was but its there in his prescence IMO.

dont like David Crosby of Greame Nash's solo material either, but together with CSNY their harmonies are beautiful and ethereal at times.

LOL, no i havent listened to it as yet SteveO...
still have around 10 unplayed ones to go for first plus my regular daily posts, so i'll post my initial thoughts of it sometime in the next three weeks mate....i am looking foreward to it though...

also, hoping Fogerty and CSN are not on opposing stages at the same time so i can see them both, otherwise, im afraid Fogerty wins hands down as both Dani and I love CCR/Fogerty, the only other act that would make me miss CSN is that if My Morning Jacket are on the same time they are....lets hope not though!

Daylight Again remains my favourite CS&N album.

I think the friction generated by the opposing personalities is what creates the better material. These guys are competing with each other and that in turn relates to better material being produced as they are always trying to outdo each other. Makes them come up with something better than the other guy has. Left to their own devices there's no-one to argue with and as a result no-one to tell you what you have written is crap.

Steven Stills Manassas Down the road - jazzboCR - 23-04-2014

Totally agree with Jerome on, er, "creative friction" producing brilliance. Lennon/McCartney, Jagger/Richards, Brian Wilson with his dad AND himself--the list goes on.
