Frumious Bandersnatch was a psychedelic rock band in the late 1960s. The band was named after a character from the Lewis Carroll poem "Jabberwocky".
Of course I have no idea what a Jabberwocky is and to answer your first question as to what they were on - 60s psychedelic rock should give you a big hint
