ok, found the list of biggest selling albums...minus the "best of" and "soundtrack" sets...and here it is,

110million MICHAEL JACKSON "thriller"
50 million PINK FLOYD "dark side of the moon"
49 million AC/DC "back in black"
43 million MEATLOAF "bat out of hell"
40 million FLEETWOOD MAC "rumours"
40 million SHANIA TWAIN "come on over"
37 million LED ZEPPLIN "IV aka four symbols"
33 million ALANIS MORRISSETTE "jagged little pill"

four albums all have sales of 32 million to round out the top 10 at #10...

THE BEATLES "sgt.peppers lonely hearts club band"
CELINE DION "falling into you"

Interesting as this Thread is, don't forget it's a dying, frozen metric. In the download/streaming era, these numbers won't/can't be touched again. Revel in the numbers but these numbers will no longer reflect an artist's importance or place--it'll be strictly number of earholes reached and tunes remembered/inculcated by whatever means--no more, no less...and ephemeral rules the day.
