Best Rock/Metal Intrumentals - kvincent5555 - 01-04-2009 I have mixed thoughts about instrumentals in rock and metal. Oftentimes, they are used either as album filler or as an excuse for the guitarist or drummer to show off. I'll list a few exceptions here: Soul Sacrifice by Santana Call of Ktulu by Metallica Frankenstein by Edgar Winter One of These Days... by Pink Floyd Best Rock/Metal Intrumentals - goth metal raver - 05-04-2009 Call of Cthulu by Metallica. My second favourite metal instrumental is Genghis Khan by Iron Maiden. But that's just metal. Broaden it out to rock and I'm just too spoiled for choice. Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin did some wonderful instrumentals. Best Rock/Metal Intrumentals - markyyy - 05-04-2009 Satriani and Malmsteen are great instrumentalists. The two of them truly command the neck of their guitars. So I'll go with most of their music. :biggrin1: Best Rock/Metal Intrumentals - Gert - 29-07-2009 Dreamtheater indeed has some beautiful work, also, and off project by some of dream theaters members was also very good: Liquid Tension Experiment. It's got some heavier, some lighter songs, personally like Acid rain Best Rock/Metal Intrumentals - bryce - 29-07-2009 personally i like alot of steeve via's stuff. has anyone ever heard his hard rock version of beatoven's 5th? it's pretty amazing. i like alot of classical cannon rock music. i wish someone would do some of george winstens stuff. he's one of my favorite classical artists. Best Rock/Metal Intrumentals - Erixouther - 30-07-2009 I don't know if it's the best, but Tool's "Triad" is great. Or anything by Liquid Tension Experiment  Best Rock/Metal Intrumentals - Hem - 31-07-2009 For symphonic metal... Apocalyptica is always good. "Stroke," "Burn" and "Peace" are my favorite instrumentals off Worlds Collide. They also did "Intro" on Bullet's The Poison. Epica's "The Score - An Epic Journey" is a purely instrumental album and is, in fact, the score for a Dutch movie. Though in some places it lacks the guitars that many have come to define metal by, it's still absolutely gorgeous. I think this is the third or fourth time I've mentioned Epica on here..I'm apparently subconsciously obsessed with the band. Whenever you get tired of hearing about them, do shut me up. Best Rock/Metal Intrumentals - Drealm - 31-07-2009 Orion have always been my favorite Metallica track and one of the best instrumental song. I really like this thread because I love instrumentals so I am taking every suggestions I read here!! Thanks!
