DUA LIPA "future nostalgia"

from London, England...
second album, hadnot heard of her until this one...
a very good pop album,
some serious topics set to dancable pop-cum-disco beats for the most part.
would have liked to have heard a ballad or two to break things up a bit but it wasnt to be.
favourite track is about as far as she went towards a slow tune.
has an almost P!nk quality to her voice which is wha probably got me hooked.
not sure if the album will always be one i love or whether it will wear off through the years but right now...

from Illinois,
his second release,
failed to chart anywhere by the looks of it...
fairly decent country album.
falls somewhere between real country and modern country with a solitary bluegrass track.

FIONA APPLE "fetch the bolt cutters"

her fifth, my first but i am familliar with osme of her work...
alternative and art/experimental pop sum up Fiona perfectly yet sounds mainstream at the same time...
hearing some Sia, Bjork, Tori and Yoko on this one...
a very very good album IMO

NEIL YOUNG "homegrown"

previously unreleased album from 1975.
released as part of his 'archives' re-release series.
some tracks previously released on other albums, others re-recorded and released,
several unreleased to the time of release.
most tracks are classic acoustic Neil, others have a mid '70s Crazy Horse sound.
three of these are bad, they have place name titles.
other than those, this is a very good album, worth listening to if oyure a fan of 1970s Neil Young.

Albanian-American
debut album.
sounds a lot like Gaga at her best.
videos also have that Gaga look to them.
cannot knock this album at all, almost the perfect pop album

THE KILLERS "imploding the mirage"

from Vegas...
their sixth studio set, my sixth also plus a couple of compilaitons and both of Flowers' solo albums...
a quality rock band who never fail to please me or comprimise on quality alt-rock.
alongside a handful of other bands this millenium capable of solid work every single time.
not usually known for collaborations but theres a couple on here, one with KD, the other Weyes Blood.
Lindsay Buckingham turns up on a couple of tracks also.

Katy's sixth, my second round with her...
was actually a bit worried about this one, wasnt sure how it would fare...
a fairly decent pop album, some good lyrics from Katy also...
thinking she has matured as an artist lyrically since getting pregnant also...

AC/DC "PWR UP" aka "power up"

Aussie hard rockers eighteenth studio album
eleventh with Brian Johnson on vocals, my eleventh also...
these guys have one sound, one style, no comprimising of any kind.
these tracks were built upon left over recorded riffs by Malcom Young before he died,
they created the songs around those riffs as per normal...
you either like their simplistic two and three chord rock or you dont...

KATE MILLER-HEIDKE "child in reverse"

Aussie singer, fifth album.
i own two and a compilation.
classically/operatic trained.
possesses those qualities in her songs.
subject matter is quite deep and dark with Kate dealing with abuse, bullying, body shaming, relationships, divorce, loss and acceptance from the perspective of a female...
more often than not the songs are Kate writing open letter to her younger self at various ages of youth, seems to be her way of personal therapy (assuming she went through bad stuff at a young age which im not sure about??).
vocally, think of Tori and Kate Bush.

JEHNNY BETH "to love is to live"

was speaking to my daughter who's been in lockdown for eight months on the other side of the country,
she's into her music also...
was telling me about this "sensational album by French singer Jehnny Beth that i should get" so i bought it on her say so....
its art-pop, baroque-pop, avant-garde and industrial...
never heard of Jehnny so i had to Wiki her:
vocals for UK rock band Savages, ive heard of them but cant recall hearing them...
this album was written and recorded with Bowie's "blackstar" in mind, yeah, i can hear that in some tracks, can also hear some
late '90s Bowie at times also...
definately hearing Tori, Bjork, Yoko and Toyah also...
im not sure whether this is a complete masterpeice and i just dont 'get it' or whether it is self indulgent over educated crap LOL.
a strange album with even stranger videos for the tracks...
