Weekly Music Charts for 2017 - CRAZY-HORSE - 13-01-2017 UK songs/singles charts for week ending 13th January: ![]() Ed Sheeran has delivered the biggest comeback since Adele with a double record-breaking week on the Official Singles Chart, as his two new singles Shape of You and Castle on the Hill enter at Number 1 and 2, a first for any artist, and sets a new UK streaming record in the process.Shape of You becomes Sheeranâs third Number 1 single, following 2014âs Sing and Thinking Out Loud, while Castle on the Hill enters at 2. Look back at Ed Sheeranâs complete Official UK Chart history here. The feat sets a new record on the Official Chart â no other artist has entered at positions 1 and 2 on the chart with new tracks. Both tracks mean a huge amount to me so it really is amazing to see them go to the top of the chart together on the first week. I canât wait for everyone to hear the rest of the album in March!â Ed has bagged the biggest opening week for any artist since Adeleâs record-breaking return in November 2015 when she shot straight to Number 1 with 332,000 combined sales of Hello, while Ed has racked up a staggering 421,000 across his two new releases over the past seven days. Shape Of You and Castle on the Hill have both performed strongly on downloads and streaming, with both songs individually smashing the one-week streaming record previously held by Drakeâs One Dance, which racked up 8.9 million plays in one week last summer. Shape Of You notched up 227,000 combined sales this week, made up of 137,000 downloads and 13.4 million streams, while Castle on the Hill managed 194,000 combined sales, split between 120,000 downloads and 11.07 million streams. While thereâs still a way to go yet, Glory Days is now the longest reigning Number 1 by all-female act since the Spice Girlsâ record-setting debut, Spice, which spent a whopping 15 weeks at the summit upon its release in 1996. Glory Days' five non-consecutive weeks at the Official Albums Chart helm helps the LP surpass the last longest reigning, Destiny's Child's Survivor, which clung on to the coveted top spot for four non-consecutive weeks over 2001 and 2002. You Me At Six who lead the albums charge at the midweek stage couldnât quite sustain their early momentum, their fifth studio effort Night People lands at Number 3. Elsewhere in the Top 5, Pete Tong & The Heritage Orchestra's Classic House holds at Number 2, George Michael's Ladies & Gentlemen rises seven places to Number 4 following a resurgence in retail outlets, and David Bowie's Legacy catapults 13 spots to Number 5, a new peak for the album. The English singer-songwriter becomes the first artist to have simultaneous debuts at #1 and #2 on the ARIA Singles Chart with âShape Of Youâ & âCastle On The Hillâ, respectively. After jumping into the top ten for the first time last week, Andy Grammer is up a further four spots to #5, hitting the top five for the first time with âFresh Eyesâ. In its fourth week in the top 50, Trainâs âPlay That Songâ moves up 15 spots to #8. It becomes the American bandâs third top ten single and first since âHey, Soul Sisterâ (#1 Mar. â10). Up seven from last week and into the top 20 for the first time this week at #15, âChameleonâ is now Pnauâs highest-charting single. This week also sees new peaks for Rag'N'Bone Man's 'Human' (#21), Sage The Geminiâs âNow And Laterâ (#24), Milky Chanceâs âCocoonâ (#25) and Robin Shulz & David Guettaâs âShed A Lightâ (#26). Debuts: #1 & #2: Ed Sheeran âShape Of Youâ & âCastle On The Hillâ â His first new releases in over a year, âShape Of Youâ & âCastle On The Hillâ both come from Ed Sheeranâs forthcoming third album ÷, set for release on 3 March. âShape Of Youâ becomes Sheeranâs third #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, following on from âSingâ (#1 May â14) and âThinking Out Loudâ (#1 Oct. â14). The two new entries now gives Sheeran seven top five singles in Australia. #31: Machine Gun Kelly & Camila Cabello âBad Thingsâ â American rapper Machine Gun Kelly joins forces with former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello for âBad Thingsâ. Itâs the first time either artist has hit the top 50 individually. As a member of Fifth Harmony, Cabello last charted with âAll In My Head (Flex)â (#19 Jul. â16). #40: Amy Shark âAdoreâ â The debut appearance in the ARIA top 50 for Gold Coast singer-songwriter Amy Shark. âAdoreâ comes from Sharkâs EP The Little Sleeper, released last September. #41: Sia âMove Your Bodyâ â The fourth single and fifth track to chart from Siaâs This Is Acting (#1 Feb. â16), following on from âAliveâ (#10 Oct. â15), âBird Set Freeâ (#36 Nov. â15), âCheap Thrillsâ (#6 Apr. â16) and âThe Greatestâ (#2 Sept. â16). #42: Sofi Tukker âDrinkeeâ â New York duo Sofi Tukker hit the top 50 for the first time with âDrinkeeâ. The track comes from the house duo debut EP Soft Animals, which was released in mid-2016. #45: Snakehips & Mà âDonât Leaveâ â British electronic duo Snakehips team up with Danish singer Mà team up for âDonât Leaveâ. Itâs Snakehipsâ third top 50 appearance as lead artist, following on from âAll My Friendsâ (#3 Jan. â16) and âCruelâ (#34 Aug. â16) and the second for Mà after âFinal Songâ (#12 Sept. â16). #46: Adele âWater Under The Bridgeâ â Single four from Adeleâs 25 (#1 Nov. â15). It follows on from âHelloâ (#1 Nov. â15), âWhen We Were Youngâ (#13 Nov. â15) and âSend My Love (To Your New Lover)â (#13 Jul. â16). #49: Auli'i Cravalho âHow Far Iâll Goâ â American actress Auli'i Cravalho makes her Singles Chart debut with âHow Far Iâll Goâ. After scoring seven awards at this weekâs Golden Globes, La La Landâs soundtrack jumps up 18 spots to #13 in its second week in the top 50. Debuts: #15: Dropkick Murphys â11 Short Stories Of Pain & Gloryâ â Dropkick Murphys score a new peak on the ARIA Albums Chart with 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory. Itâs the American punk bandâs ninth studio album and takes over from predecessor Signed And Sealed In Blood (#23 Jan. â13) as their peak. #20: You Me At Six âNight Peopleâ â Album five from You Me At Six gives the English band a second top 20 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Night People comes three years on from Cavalier Youth (#14 Feb. â14). #30: Halestorm âReanimate 3.0: The Covers EPâ â American rockers Halestorm make their top 50 debut on the ARIA Charts. Weekly Music Charts for 2017 - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-01-2017 UK songs/singles charts for week ending 20th January: ![]() The UK can't get enough of Ed Sheeran, who once again occupies both Number 1 and Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart.Shape of You sits at the top spot for a second week in a row, with 66,000 downloads sold and a streaming tally of 11 million plays. Castle on the Hill settles for Number 2 after with 7.8 million streams plus 49,000 downloads. The start to Ed's ÷ album campaign is off to a very strong start - not only has Shape of You hit Number 1 in the UK, but it has also topped the charts in America and Australia. Ed also broke the UK's all-time weekly streaming record last week. Rag'n'Bone Man's breakthrough single Human continues to perform well, holding at Number 3, ahead of Jax Jones and Raye's collaboration You Don't Know Me, which rises five places to Number 4. Bonoboâs sixth album comes four years on from fifth album The North Borders. #36: Run The Jewels âRun The Jewels 3â â American hip hop duo Run The Jewels crack the ARIA top 50 for the first time with Run The Jewels 3.
