where were you when......? - GilesM - 05-03-2016 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:okay, so i'll kick it off with one.... Same for me, I was 10 years old, in London, in bed listening to the radio when the news of Elvis death came across. I had to check the family records the next day, and I found "Elvis 40 Greatest" ... I put it on and "Heartbreak Hotel" just amazed me. It was not what my siblings (all older than me) listened to (Eagles, Cat Stevens, Neil Young) I played the double album inbetween the BBC showing his films each weekday morning. I was hooked, am still listening to EP, I have the entire catalogue, plus the collectors editions (FTD editions, which are still publishing CD's each month). of course I have branched in to multiple areas of music, but EP is always the core of my love of music. where were you when......? - 360dopes - 18-06-2016 I was in the silverbird cinemas when I heard Michael Jackson passing away. where were you when......? - bob_32_116 - 18-06-2016 When john Lennon was murdered, I was staying in New York City in a backpackers' hostel only a few streets away. I recall someone pounding up the stairs late in the night yelling something like "John Lennon's been shot", but I don't think it registered; there was always lots of noise at that place, people talking and yelling into the night. In the morning, of course, in the common-room no one was talking about anything else. |
