Wow, Never? - immortaloldshool. - 10-07-2009 Jason Mraz is an amazing lyricist IMO. Matchbox 20, Blue October and Nickelback are also pretty good. Most of the music I listen to has meaning in it. Otherwise, there's usually no appeal there for me. RE: Wow, Never? - JeromeD - 06-07-2023 'Vincent' by Don McLean is probably my single favourite song when it comes to lyrics. He takes the imagery from the artist's paintings to describe the artist's own life. Two others I like when it comes to lyrics are Bob Dylan (especially the Infidels album) and Sixto Rodriguez (Cold Fact album). RE: Wow, Never? - CRAZY-HORSE - 06-07-2023 ^^ the Cold Fact album is on par with Dylan at his best IMO, its just a shame that Rodriguez never got the recognition or sales he truly deserved on a commercial level. RE: Wow, Never? - Ruby - 07-07-2023 Finally managed to get hold of the Dawes CD, Misadventures of Doomscroller, and have been listening in the car – seriously the best way to get acquainted with music. Have to say, they are refreshingly competent in the lyrics department … for e.g. …“I think I've found something in common With nothingness and God You stare at either in the face too long They'll do each other's job …” I think that is just brilliant - hoping for further revelations! Jeffrey Foucault is another one who is a magician with words - ..."I saw you out there In the starlight and static Singing like the spark On a mile of coiled wire..." |
