finally got round to watching the Olympics closing ceremony in full...
a great celebration of british music through the decades...the exceptions being One Direction and Spice Girls...
highlights for me were most definately The Who...Daltrey still showing he has the voice,Townshend,although looking old now, can still weild the Axe better than most of the newcomers...
Kieser Cheifs did a brilliant version The Who's Pinball Wizard...
Liam Gallagher...off key with his vocals during "wonderwall"...and he had the audacity to tell Macca "he should give it up"!!!!
ex.Monty Python comic Eric Idle was another highlight doing his "always look on the bright side of life"(from 'life of brian' movie).
and what the hell was Jessie J doing?....she destroyed Queen's "we will rock you"...dont know hoe the heck Brian May could have let her up on stage with him, totally embarrassing IMO!, but again, his guitar work sounded pretty good to me...
Ray Davies turned up to do "waterloo sunset"...looked jaded,sick and very old IMO, not a great performance, but this show was all about "british music" through the decades...
just wish The Stones had've turned up,probably Waters/Gilmour also and Plant/Page...afterall,they played a huge part in music over the last 45-50yrs!
the John Lennon tribute was also brilliant...a choir singing "imagine" before his image came up on the screens to sing along...and that sculpture of his image was pretty darn cool also...gotta feel sorry for George though...he always seems to get left out of Beatle tributes?!?
all-up, probably the best Olympic ceremony i have ever seen!!!!
