What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 20-11-2011 mtthwibrahim Wrote:"God is In the House" is probaly my least favorite Cave song. He really half asses too much, and I think that song is the ultimate example of itCould you elaborate please What does that even mean, he half asses too much. What Are You Listening To? - mtthwibrahim - 21-11-2011 I mean his albums always have blatant filler (with the exception of "The Good Son" which is shockingly solid). Take "Let Love In" for example; you begin with a monster of a track like "Do You Love Me" and then you go into the blatant lamenes of "Nobody's Baby Anymore" But enough of that, right now I'm basking in the glory of Unwound's masterpiece "Leaves Turn Inside You" What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 21-11-2011 mtthwibrahim Wrote:I mean his albums always have blatant filler (with the exception of "The Good Son" which is shockingly solid). What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 21-11-2011 from my library (cd) ![]() One of those you buy for one song, get home, spin it, and you're like, what the hell have I done. Brimful Of Asha was the hit and I love it. Nice beat, easy to dance to, blah blah blah. Think I fell for the video, the little girls collection of 45's, and her dancing to them. Flashbacks and all that. Sadly, most of the album is total crap. Do not like 10 of the 15 tracks. One other excellent track in Good To Be On The Road Back Home, with a guest vocalist of Paula Frazer. Not sure who she is, but she sure has a sweet voice. A cover of the classic Norwegian Wood wraps up the album, sung in Indian I assume. Yes I know that's not a language, but that's what it is to me. Here in my country we speak United Statesian. The song Candyman was used in a Nike commercial and Good Shit was used in a Target commercial, shit changed to stuff. Many of those 10 tracks I don't like are either instrumental, another language, or spoken word things. I do like the Indian musical influence. The album made #144 in the U.S. and #17 in the U.K. It was criticaly praised so what do I Know. Heard a follow up album which was even worse. No I didn't buy it. I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Chocolat Best Track - Good To Be On The Road Back Home And by the time that she gets home She'll re-a-lise that I am gone I'll be sitting in a back bar drinkin' Drinking to my friends And drinking to my foes For both keep a young heart moving. It's good to be on the trail From where my heart set sail Puttin anchor down For friends and good beer So I'll have another one Then I'll be moving on. It's good to be on the road back home again. Again And by the time that he arrives He will read, I have lied He'll go drinking to his friends and to his foes. But drinking is the devil That tears one apart, leaving Memories of what should have been and wasn't. Son petit business In Tokyo town Italy for the apples To where my heart is now. Now it's giddy up or whoa and I'm afraid it's good to be back on the road home. It's good to be on the road back home again. Again. I swear I meant to leave Chattanooga, but But I had another one. And I realised where I'd gone And I realised what I'd done I need to be on the first bus back Into her arms It's good to be on the road back home Too many nights In dirty London town Italy for the apples To where my heart is now. For I've lost myself, searchin' For what I ain't It's good to be on the road back home again. Leave Chattanooga Walk in to New York City Aeroplane down to Nippon ground Meet some friends in Tokyo-town Across to West Maluva Showboat to West Malay Leave my foes to their woes Sometimes that's how it goes It's good to be on the road back home again 1) Sleep On The Left Side ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jbf_ZPWRN6c 2) Brimful Of Asha *** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM7H0ooV_o8 3) Butter The Soul * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KGuiYqX9Ws 4) Chocolat * 5) We're In Yr Corner * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgoGBzZbOc0 6) Funky Days Are Back Again * 7) What Is Happening? * 8) When The Light Appears Boy * 9) Coming Up * 10) Good Shit ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyqOS55RaUQ 11) Good To Be On The Road Back Home *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrvNI-z8Vno 12) It's Indian Tobacco My Friend * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVo_ZFcapgg 13) Candy Man ** 14) State Troopers (Part 1) * 15) Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) * live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um6NYOLYWbQ 3's - 2 2's - 3 1's - 10 Grade - 1.5 so many albums, so little time What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 21-11-2011 was "chocolat" from that Johnny Depp movie of the same name??? What Are You Listening To? - Music Head - 21-11-2011 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:was "chocolat" from that Johnny Depp movie of the same name???don't know think I started watching that and gave up on it that track here is just a 1 minute + instrumental thing What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 22-11-2011 ![]() Their fifth album, from 1994. This is a subdued album for JAMC. The feedback is near-nonexistent, and there are acoustic guitars all over. There are still some songs that throb with a smouldering intensity, but most are gentle by their standards. The AllMusic review talks of Folk & Country influences, but I can't really hear much of that. The subject matter is their usual mix of religious symbolism, sleaze, death, & longing, so no change there... A good, but not great album. There are others in their catalog that are far more impressive. AllMusic 3+/5 stars. What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 23-11-2011 Their name alone is impresssive !!!!!...thanks for the recco , Tig !!! Tiggi Wrote: What Are You Listening To? - CRAZY-HORSE - 23-11-2011 had forgot all about JAMC....so thanks for the 'nudge' Tiggi.....also found a 5cd set of Echo and The Bunnymen at the shop the other day, didnt get it as im unsure about them as an albums band....are they worth it? What Are You Listening To? - SteveO - 23-11-2011 Agalloch - The Mantle A very highly regarded band from Portland, Oregon that is at the top of music critics' lists in various best metal album polls I have seen. All of their albums seem to appear at number one or two and they interchange it seems from month to month! The problem here is because Agalloch is so diverse and original , no one knows where to put them ! They are not a metal band perse,,,believe me ! This is their second album and the first I heard...drawn to it by the unusual cover and then a strong recommendation from a record store friend. It would be a shame to discard them as another dark metal band ! There's much more here than just metal. I classify them as eclectic with many styles - folk, hard rock, prog rock, dark metal...not much singing on their albums...the instrumental composition is their tour de force !,,,beware there are a few brief death growls and grunts but they are far and few between,,,lol All of their albums have a nature wildlife outdoors theme ,,,no I Love You Baby tunes here ! This is provocative sophisticated intelligent music ,,,I sense that Agalloch are perfectionists,,,in their music due to the fact that they have only released four studio albums in ten years ! Nearly seventy minutes of very good music that All Music rates as ...4.5/5 ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDakWq7aVx8 The Lodge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQ8cIn8sKSQ - A Desolation Song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfhUfEPCBU0 - The Hawthorne Passage ,,,,wow what an Instrumental !!!! |
