His second album, from 2003.

I've never really hit it off with this album, until last night.

All the trappings of a traditional singer-songwriter are here, but the songs are dressed in more contemporary musical clothes (this was what I was on about re my own pretentiousness, CH !!).

Literate lyrics, and some atmospheric backing make for a good piece of work, albeit it's taken me a while to realise it...

The AllMusic rating is way harsh IMV, and I don't agree at all.

AllMusic 2+/5 stars.

ok...just done some research into the cover art for this one, always thought it had something to do with 'traditional maori art".....as the Finn's are heavily into that aspect of NZ...

however from what i have found out it appears to be as MH said, two sperm and the egg...maybe it was the THC experience that helped you understand it?

the sperm being Tim and Neil, allbeit, sharing the womb several years apart....and sharing their lives/experiences ever since, to the point of "sharing an album" together...ie, their lives have come full circle

On the laptop.

Their ninth, released in 1985.

Not much of the band's Punk roots left by this time, but this is still a very good Gothic rock album. That brass instrumentation makes an appearance suggests a complete rejection of their original musical ideology, but there's a good dose of Punky energy, and the songs aren't too shabby either.

Well worth a listen.

This makes the Buy List with ease.

AllMusic 4/5 stars.

did Captain Sensible make a return for this album after his "happy talk" and "wot" solo excursions?

What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 19-11-2011

No. Left before this was recorded, but he does get a writing credit.

Icky Mettle-Archers of Loaf

Indie noise pop shoegaze emo, whatever. You know, good melodies covered in distortion. This album is just superb, a forgotten classic. This is definitely going to be an obscure classic some day

NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS "no more shall we part" cd, 2001.

after a three year haitus after 1998s "the boatman's call" nick cave returned with his most lyrically friendly(and lyrically 'perfect') album to date....just straight love, life songs, none of the sarcastic, deep dark tracks of the past(or future)... well i guess you could call these "love songs" to some extent...well, as close as Cave ever got to 'love songs' anyway??!!??!
still cant figure out why Cave never sells albums in quantities to reflect his writing skills, afterall IMO he is the greatest lyricist since Bob Dylan!
this one barely made the top 200 in the US, top 50 in Oz, but got to number 15 in the UK charts...his highest placing over only eclipsed by 2008's "dig lazerus dig"...
Cave's vocals tend to lack his usual tones here, seems to be actually trying to be a "normal" singer...that aside this one contains two of his finest songs in "fifteen feet of pure white snow" and my all time favourite Cave track "god is in the house"...
not a great Nick Cave album, but still reasonably good with several gems on board!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

"God is In the House" is probaly my least favorite Cave song. He really half asses too much, and I think that song is the ultimate example of it

Anyways, now I'm enjoying "You Turn Me On" by Beat Happening. A very mature twee masterpiece with lo fi quality production
