"b" side isnt too bad neither... single got to #3 here back in the day and #1 in the UK "oh julie" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AtOcWOPT50 vevo video "im knockin" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4Iv4uoyavE audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 19-09-2013 MEN AT WORK "dr.heckyll and mr.jive" b/w "shintaro" 1982 first single from their second album 'cargo'... a play on words with 'dr.jeckyl and mr.hyde'..a fun track and equally funny video here... "b" side is also okay, typical MAW sounds happening ther single made it to #6 here "dr.heckyll and mr.jive" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rc0hplwgNtI video "shintaro" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytuCendMhKo audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 19-09-2013 THE POLICE "message in a bottle" b/w "landlord" 1979 i used to love these guys but recently ive gone off them and their music big time! this song is just so monotonously repeatative, i havent counted but im sure they must sing 'message in a bottle' fifty times in just over three minutes... the "b" side is more punked up than the "a" side, more in line with some of the album tracks on their debut set... single got to #5 here... "message in a bottle" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbXWrmQW-OE vevo video "landlord" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JDup9qdKzg audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 19-09-2013 THE JAM "down in the tube station at midnight" b/w "so sad about us"/"the night" 1978 probably the first true Paul Weller classic single IMO, "a" side is a sad and sorry tale of a guy getting bashed and killed in the London underground train system by right-wing nazi skinheads whilst on his way home with a curry meal for his family... "b" side.."so sad about us" is a very good cover of The Who classic, and "the night" is a throwaway crappy track written and sung by bassist bruce Foxton... single failed to chart here... "down in the tube station at midnight" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SGxul6Xnh4 audio with lyrics "so sad about us" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2pxfqU_lwA audio "the night" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEqh62GTYo0 audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 19-09-2013 SHARON O'NEIL "for all the tea in china" b/w "i dont wanna touch you" 1981 Aussie rocker from the last 1970s/early 1980s... not sure why i bought this one, as i cant recall liking it and still dont..."b" side is equally as bad "for all the tea in china" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oqw4A69dwU video "i dont wanna touch you" * no link available my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 19-09-2013 TRACIE! "give it some emotion" b/w "the boy hairdresser" 1986 really good white-girl soul here on this one... "b" side was also written by Paul Weller and originally done by Bananarama a couple of years previous to this...i dont like it! single failed to chart here but i love it! "give it some emotion" *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1aUUNoNWyE video "the boy hairdresser" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj49MVu42CI audio my "singles" collection - SteveO - 19-09-2013 Paul really loves to make music for all ages! "dear jessie" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGYmN-1UQzI audio "till death do us part" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40BtRy4NbIc audio my "singles" collection - CRAZY-HORSE - 20-09-2013 HOWARD JONES "what is love?" b/w "it just doesnt matter" 1983 always though Howard had a lot more talent than his short career showed... wasnt so keen on this single but it was okay...still sounds okay, but i think he made better songs over the following twelve to fifteen months! not keen on the "b" side.... single got to #31 here "what is love" ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smmtzejfpZ8 video "it just doesnt matter" * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtBkWSRERgE audio |
