THE POLICE "message in a bottle" b/w "landlord" 1979

i used to love these guys but recently ive gone off them and their music big time!
this song is just so monotonously repeatative, i havent counted but im sure they must sing 'message in a bottle' fifty times in just over three minutes...
the "b" side is more punked up than the "a" side, more in line with some of the album tracks on their debut set...
single got to #5 here...

THE JAM "down in the tube station at midnight" b/w "so sad about us"/"the night" 1978

probably the first true Paul Weller classic single IMO, "a" side is a sad and sorry tale of a guy getting bashed and killed in the London underground train system by right-wing nazi skinheads whilst on his way home with a curry meal for his family...
"b" side.."so sad about us" is a very good cover of The Who classic, and "the night" is a throwaway crappy track written and sung by bassist bruce Foxton...
single failed to chart here...

Aussie rocker from the last 1970s/early 1980s...
not sure why i bought this one, as i cant recall liking it and still dont..."b" side is equally as bad

TRACIE! "give it some emotion" b/w "the boy hairdresser" 1986

really good white-girl soul here on this one...
"b" side was also written by Paul Weller and originally done by Bananarama a couple of years previous to this...i dont like it!
single failed to chart here but i love it!

Paul really loves to make music for all ages! I doubt if this song ever saw the light of day in Canada! Thanks for sharing Crazy! First time I have heard it...the kiddies would love it!
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:PAUL McCARTNEY & THE FROG CHORUS "we all stand together" b/w "we all stand together(humming version" 1984

yeh...'the frog chorus' says it all!
seriously, its not that bad, it was recorded and aimed at an audience of children...the song came from a movie length cartoon Macca made about Rupert The Bear, a childhood story book from Macca's generation...
"B" side is a piece of crap, but its allround childish fun and kids love it...single got to #2 in the UK at christmas, out here it failed to chart...

Yes two good songs from one half of the greatest song writing team in music history!!!!Confusedmile:
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:PAUL McCARTNEY "spies like us" b/w "my carnival" 1985

two Macca's in a row...
"a" side was theme song to the movie of the same name starring Chevy Chase/Dan Akroyd, movie was sort of a spoof of the Bond thing...
i love it, its one of those 'lost macca classics" IMO..."b" side is credited to Macca and Wings, its an old song from the mid 1970s apparently, its not bad neither, all up, not a bad single...
i also have the 12" remix version of this single somewhere, the 6 minute remix of the "a' side is also very good...
single made it to a lowly #55 here...

MADONNA "dear jessie" b/w "till death do us part" 1989

ive gone off Madonna over the last few years, her last three albums have been abysmal IMO and her skanky-ness has got worse, so i have no time for here whatsoever!
thus i dont like these tracks at all...
single reached #41 here, which was really bad for her back then as everything she did turned to gold(or platinum!)

HOWARD JONES "what is love?" b/w "it just doesnt matter" 1983

always though Howard had a lot more talent than his short career showed...
wasnt so keen on this single but it was okay...still sounds okay, but i think he made better songs over the following twelve to fifteen months!
not keen on the "b" side....
single got to #31 here
