What Are You Listening To? - Iota - 27-04-2009 Thelonious Monk - Sophisticated Lady What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 01-05-2009 Seasick Steve - Dog House Music More of the same... What do you reckon, genuine Bluesman, or novelty act ??? What Are You Listening To? - Beach - 01-05-2009 Tiggi Wrote:Seasick Steve - Dog House MusicPersonally Tigger, there are far too many 'Blues Police' about! Steve does what he does well and I've never seen him panned on any Blues Forum yet. Some of them would probably say I'm not 'Blues' either and I truly couldn't give a shit! What Are You Listening To? - Beach - 05-05-2009 Kicked my morning off listening to some great Count Basie from 1970 ![]() Presently getting my head around a little Sonny Landreth - one of my favourite guitarists. ![]() And will follow it up with: ![]() What Are You Listening To? - Iota - 09-05-2009 Sun Ra - Enlightenment What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 25-05-2009 Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris - All The Roadrunning In the garden on the iPod... Country & Bluegrass collection. Perfect for a spot of therapeutic relaxation. What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 31-05-2009 Van Morrison - What's Wrong With This Picture ? Lush & soothing, this is Jazzier than most of his stuff. Should be listened to when horizontal, I think... What Are You Listening To? - Tiggi - 03-06-2009 Various - Motown: The Complete No. 1s A 10-disc set (cased in a replica of the Hitsville Building !!) released to celebrate Motown's 50th anniversary. Most of this is essential stuff - and indeed, a fair amount of it is already in my collection - but things go a bit goat-shaped during the last couple of discs. Boyz II Men have now infected my lovely collection, and I may never play the last disc again... Despite these minor caveats, this is a fantastic release. What Are You Listening To? - Iota - 04-06-2009 I've got that one too. It's quite awesome (especially the design). What Are You Listening To? - JonG - 04-06-2009 Wadada Leo Smith & Jack DeJohnette - Red Trumpet from America [Tzadik, 2009] Quote:Originally proposed to ECM Records in 1979, the collaboration of trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith and drummer Jack DeJohnette has finally found new life in America. Recorded last year in Bill Laswellâs New Jersey studio (but without his heavy-handed production aesthetic), this unadorned acoustic session documents two of the worldâs most versatile and virtuosic improvisers working through a set of six new compositions written by Smith.- allaboutjazz.com |
