CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:REACH FOR THE CANS JAZZBO!

THE ZOMBIES "shes not there" B/W "you make me feel good" 1964

well bugger me....
Jazzy mentions these guys just a couple of days ago and out they come in the random selection process!
"A" side...anyone who doesnt love this one,well...theyre a couple of brain cells short!
the "A" side sums up the mid 1960s IMO.
"B" side is very good also, but not quite up there with the A" side
single made it to #1 in the UK
here's the Zombies' Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Zombies

Sometimes things just work out well. And not wanting to waste the occasion: http://www.thezombies.net/ Both Mr. Blunstone and Mr. Argent went on to have rich, meaningful careers which continue to this day. Their Sites: http://www.colinblunstone.co.uk/ << Here's his compilation to get: http://www.allmusic.com/album/some-years-its-the-time-of-colin-blunstone-mw0000176641
and http://rodargent.com/ There are quite a few 4/4+-star compilations of the Zombies available and 1 that's 5 stars. Also a "lost" album seems to have surfaced...and a new album also (see Mr. Argent's Site).

Some tunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzpPy9hJYA8 << From that brilliant album, Odessey and Oracle *
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anpMFcae9rI << a Rod Argent solo album but I couldn't not include it **

* They remade it in '08 and here's about the concert DVD: http://www.amazon.com/Zombies-Odessey-Oracle-Revisited-Anniversary/dp/B002BEXF9G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430339545&sr=8-1&keywords=odyssey+and+oracle+%28revisited%29

MADONNA "papa dont preach" B/W "pretender" 1986

i used to love Madonna's music, but i dont now, its just so 'old hat' to me,
its easy to forget just how big she was back in the day also with 15Canadian,12 US,13UK and 8 Australian #1 hits in 82 singles!
anyway, i also own this single so i must have liked it to purchase it, but i dont now...
i never liked the "B" side though, so at least that remains the same
single got to #1 here in Australia
i dont htink we need here Wiki neither

ADAM FAITH "johnny comes marching home" B/W "made you" 1960

late fifties/early sixties UK pop heart-throb was Adam....
had numerous hits including several #1's over there...
"A" side is a cover of the old 'traditional' song, i dont like his version
"B" side, is more uptempo, sounding a bit like Cochran's "something else", i like this one
single peaked at #5 in the UK
here's Adam's Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Faith

SWINGING BLUE JEANS "hippy hippy shake" B/W "now i must go" 1963

Merseyside beat group who tagged along on the coat-tails of The Beatles, but had much less success(like most other Liverpudlian groups did)
"A" side must be one of the best songs of the 1960s to have never got to #1 IMO
"B" side, is okay, but nothing special, sounds like a thousand other songs from the UK's initial 'britpop' era
single peaked at #2 in the UK

BARRY MANILOW "lets hang on" B/W "dont fall in love with me" 1981

you either like or loathe Manilow as a rule....i like him.
this one was a major flop on the charts back in the day...
"A" side is a cover of the old classic, i like his treatment of it
"B" side is pretty cool also(if you like his music i guess)
single peaked at #4 here in Australia

BUDDY HOLLY "rock around with ollie vee" B/W "midnight shift" 1957

im a huge fan of all things Buddy....
"A" side is very good, but i prefer the "B" side over the "A"...
i was surprised to find on Wiki that this single failed to chart in the UK(and the US for that matter.

whats this...around the tenth Connie single already????
"A" side is a beautiful ballad, i love it
"B" side is just as good as the "A" side, in fact it was the "B" side that charted and not the "A" side...
single peaked at #18 in the UK
(and yet again.....) here's Connie's Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connie_Francis
