Politics - Music Head - 19-01-2017 Oceansoul Wrote:Ooh, Sen. Warren is not happy with Tom Price as a pick. Can't say I'm happy either. Sigh.yea she went after him pretty good as did Sanders, Franken and Murray funny to watch how partisan these hearings are and it is always that way whether the right or left is assuming power problem for the left on any of these nominees is they don't have the votes thanks to Harry Reid's rule change in the senate allowing a simple majority to confirm it came back to bite the dems Politics - Oceansoul - 19-01-2017 Music Head Wrote:yea she went after him pretty goodYep, they did. Also Sanders didn't like Scott Pruitt either as a pick for the EPA. Quote:funny to watch how partisan these hearings areIt's hard not to notice how divided the right and the left are during these hearings. It's interesting. I would say the country is pretty divided right now too. Quote:problem for the left on any of these nominees is they don't have the votesApparently so. x_x Yeah, the Dems don't have the votes to prevent someone from being confirmed. There are picks I'm concerned about, but they will likely all be confirmed even Betsy DeVos (and Jeff Sessions). Politics - Lovely Linda - 21-01-2017 I'm wondering how long it is going to take before some radical goes after Trump for not going after Hillary as he promised. I'm sure it is coming. All and all I believe it is going to be a interesting 4 years. Politics - Lovely Linda - 21-01-2017 The US is more divided than I have ever seen and more radical. Politics - Oceansoul - 21-01-2017 For good or ill, Trump is President now. Guess we'll see what will happen. Politics - Lovely Linda - 21-01-2017 Oceansoul Wrote:For good or ill, Trump is President now. Guess we'll see what will happen. Can't happen quick enough for me. We are in for some big changes. Trump signs to get the ball rolling on the ACA  I'm wondering (I don't know) have the repubs ever protested like today. Over 200 arrested. What do they think they have and might accomplish? Politics - CRAZY-HORSE - 21-01-2017 i saw Trump's speech at the inauguration, it sounded pretty good to me... time will tell if it is empty rhetoric or not. and whatever he wants to do, he will still need to get Senate backing. Politics - Oceansoul - 21-01-2017 CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:i saw Trump's speech at the inauguration, it sounded pretty good to me...He didn't sound much different from rally Trump except he mentioned unity. I imagine his supporters are comforted, at least. He made some big promises today. The weight of responsibility is on his shoulders now and he does need to work with Congress. Also, I thought the speech was a bit dark, at times. Trump thanking the world was amusing though. Politics - Oceansoul - 21-01-2017 Lovely Linda Wrote:Can't happen quick enough for me.I'm sure we are in for some... interesting things to come soon. He's already signed an executive order on the ACA. The law is on the chopping block. Quote: I'm wondering (I don't know) have the repubs ever protested like today. Over 200 arrested.I wouldn't know exact numbers for Repubs, I know the Tea Party held rallies, held town hall meetings across the country, and protested at the White House a few years ago. They started a grassroots movement and that is why we have politicians like Ted Cruz elected now. As far as the protestors today are concerned, some people on the left are pretty fired up right now and trying to send a message, they are worried about what Trump's America will entail for them. They want their rights preserved and don't feel safe and some are trying to show solidarity with minorities, women, and/or expressing opposition. You might be seeing the birth of a new grassroots movement. People who are acting out are being stupid, violence is not the answer. Peaceful protest is fine with me though and freedom of assembly is a protected constitutional right for a reason. Politics - Lovely Linda - 22-01-2017 I agree. Violence is not a way to have their rights preserved and burning the American flag is a disgrace! That is what I was talking about. I don't recall conservatives going to that extent when their party lost. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when Obama became Pres. but I would never go that far. Anyway, no matter what happens I'm glad Obama is out. Gone on vacation huh. I thought he was on vacation enough when he was in the WH. Kuddos to the Bikers!! Going to Twitter to find out what is going on with the Hillary thing and voice my opinion  |
