Been keeping up with the story. Indeed, it is terrible. Hopefully, whoever is responsible for the attack will be discovered soon. Politics - Oceansoul - 21-12-2016 Lovely Linda Wrote:Three Electors voted for Colin Powell and one for BernieAh, okay well there would still need to be 37 electors to change anything. I feel like this attempt just gave some people false hope though. In some states, electors will get a penalty for voting against the chosen candidate of the voters, usually a fine of a few thousand dollars and/or being removed from the position. Anyway, America has decided. Here comes the circus-I mean Trump administration. I would say that we get the government we deserve, but I'm not so sure about that anymore. Do we really? Eh, Alexis de Tocqueville? At least, I will have some entertainment and watching the Republicans try to rein in the Donald will be amusing, that is assuming they even try to. Checks and balances of power, ftw! Smart move Angela. Smart move Angela.Personally, I feel bad for her. This is a tragedy. I believe she has good intentions and think she is trying to be humane. She wants Germany to be welcoming to those seeking protection and asylum and who are trying to escape from places like Syria and Iraq right now. She has an open door policy regarding migrants. I'm a little surprised there isn't a vetting process in place though even the US has that for incoming refugees. However, there isn't any evidence that a refugee is responsible for the attack as of yet nor who might've done it though it appears Merkel has said it is possible so she is acknowledging some people's fears. I know the right wing groups are riled up in Germany though. The far right group AfD is slamming her over it. I'm glad I'm not in Merkel's shoes right now. :frown: This does suck. If a refugee does turn out to be responsible for the attack, oh man will this spell some bad news for her. Politics - Jerome - 21-12-2016 The problem is that a large percentage of the 'refugees' coming into Germany are not refugees at all. This has been exposed many times. A lot of them are not even coming from any of these war torn countries. They are simply illegal immigrants using the cover of the hundreds of thousands of genuine refugees fleeing war-torn countries to get into Europe and further the radical Islamic cause. This is not news. Everyone is well aware of what is going on. It's just that the stupid liberal politicians will not admit it's happening, because if they do, it just proves that they have screwed up. There is a reason that many of the Eastern European countries are refusing to take refugees - they know these people are not refugees and that they have a hidden agenda. They have dealt with this all throughout history and they are not putting up with this crap again. They have been burned too many times in the past. Genuine refugees will go to the closest country that will offer them safety and not have well-detailed plans on their person that describe how they should go about getting to the UK - essentially an island off mainland Europe - because they can live off the benefits system for the rest of their lives. The politicians of Western & Central Europe need their heads read but unfortunately that cannot be done at present because they have them too firmly buried in the sand. The politicians of Western & Central Europe need their heads read but unfortunately that cannot be done at present because they have them too firmly buried in the sand.A large percentage of them are just illegal immigrants trying to bring in their Islamic agenda while using an innocent cover? Do you have evidence for this large number? Sadly, there are incidents where a refugee has hurt someone or some people. I don't get why you'd generalize the majority of them though. This cover idea just seems like a claim the far right is using and I've heard this stuff for well over a year now even before these problems started. Seriously, have you heard the news about Aleppo for the last couple of months or so? I would leave a place where my home or my family might be bombed or attacked or be killed by IS fighters. That there could be some people who might be radical is a concern. Most of the refugees just seem like they are trying to get away from a hellhole. Information about Syrian refugees: https://www.worldvision.org/refugees-news-stories/syria-refugee-crisis-faq-war-affecting-children 13.5 million people in Syria need humanitarian assistance. 4.8 million Syrians are refugees, 6.1 million are displaced within Syria, half of those affected are children. Most Syrian refugees stay in the middle east in Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq. Slightly more than 10 percent of the refugees have fled to Europe. Politics - CRAZY-HORSE - 21-12-2016 sorry Ocean but I agree with Jerome.... most of them are not genuine refugees at all, theyre trying to either relocate uder the guise of being refugees or as Jerome says, they are terrorists with agendas... and you cant say it doesn't happen, the Coalition caught over a hundred of Saddam's henchmen disguised as women in Burkas trying to flee Iraq, who knows what theyd have got up to had they not been caught. im sorry (well im not really), but Europe needs to close its borders and stop them coming in just like the UK has now done, or in the process of doing, they are a drain on the welfare system of countries where they go, they live in their own communities and don't assimilate into the general population and that in itself is a breeding ground for extremism. look at it this way, it has been estimated in some quarters that only 1% of Muslims are extremist or are open to extremist persuasion, sounds great doesn't it, right?!??? but theres over one billion Muslims in the world, and 1% equates to a possible ten million possible terrorists out there, ok, so lets give them the benefit of the doubt at only 0.5% being of extremist views shall we, that equates to one million possible terrorists spread throughout the world, or even better, 0.1% of them having those ideals, that's half a million possible terrorists living amongst us, no, that's not scare mongering, that's a reality. WE need to stop them coming in to our countries full stop. the Coalition should leave the mid-east and let the "muslim world" sort out their own problems, we do not need the deaths of our military personnel, our civillians or our welfare systems being stretched for a war that isn't ours. heres a first hand experience direct from a former refugee as told to me by him earlier this year as I was building his house here in the outer suburbs of Perth. he and his wife escaped Rwanda during their Civil War a decade or so ago. they were recently granted asylum here in Australia, great, genuine refugees, I have no problem with that, they've suffered and been displaced through no fault of their own. their house that was getting built was bigger than the average house here, five bedrooms, three bathrooms, four living areas...it was huge! they also (the husband and wife) each had a brand now 4x4/four wheel drive vehicle. the cars would have been in the vicinity of $45K each, the house around $350K to build, plus the land, which in that area was valued around $280K... the owner told me that because theyre refugees from a war torn country that they don't have to get the same sort of housing/car loans as the rest of us hard working Australians, they get a special loan from the Federal Government that requires them (the owners words) "to pay back what they can afford each month"... that is bullcrap IMO, most Australians would be lucky to have what they've got and they've never paid a days taxes in their lives in this country... and people wonder why WE don't want them here when they get all that???!!! Smart move Angela. yes, the indiscriminate rape of German women... there was a lot of that last New Years Eve in Germany, dozens of Muslim men preying on women after NYE celebrations, surrounding them and gang raping them and then moving on to the next unsuspecting woman, theyre savages, barbarians, they treat women like that in their own country and think they can just do the same thing in Europe also. so yes, Merkel is 100% responsible for all of these problems. being a do-gooder and giving these people the benefit of the doubt has backfired big time everywhere. |
